Meet Dexter II & Cami Burnom | Artists & Designers

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dexter II & Cami Burnom and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dexter II & Cami, why did you pursue a creative career?
I think pursuing a creative career came naturally to us because art, design and the creative process have always been a big part of anything we’ve ever done together. I’m not sure anything else would really stick. Creating art is something we both love, so I think it was vital that we made a career of it. Otherwise, it may have always just been a big distraction in our lives.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Our art pulls inspiration from a number of things. You’ll find themes related to space, aliens, astrology, spiritualism, religion as well as sports and current events. I think that variety is what makes our brand unique. We want our art to be as diverse and as intricate as the world is. I think we are most excited about whats to come. We have so many projects that we want to work on and so little time. Prioritizing is definitely this years theme and has been one of our biggest challenges. When challenges do come we try to face it head on, maneuver through it as best we can and then learn as much as possible from the experience. This process has taught us to stay patient and alert. Timing is half the battle. One thing the world should know about us, our story and our brand is that we are just getting started. There is much more art to come. We feel like we have just begun.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’re both pretty simple. If you plan on hanging out with us for a week it might just be the chillest week of your life. Be prepared to relax at the beach, eat Vallarta, and maybe have a bonfire by the bay. We definitely take our friends to La Jolla Cove, Kate Sessions Park and Mission Beach anytime they visit and maybe a surf lesson or a hike if they are up for it. Pacific Beach has a vibrant nightlife as well, so we would definitely give a tour of the club and bar scene on Garnet and Mission although we don’t do much of that ourselves.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my dad, Dexter Burnom Sr. He has always been my support and my strength. Without his encouragement, mentorship, leadership and love I’m not sure much of this would be possible.
