Meet Demi Waitley | Co- Founder of Team Quinn

We had the good fortune of connecting with Demi Waitley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Demi, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Our non-profit was formed for the purpose of serving people with disabilities and their families. It is our goal to integrate and connect people in the community through local events and service opportunities. We hold multiple adaptive events each year, sponsor and support other community events and adaptive athletes. One of the greatest impacts we have seen through surfing is the community involvement. Our events allow surfers the opportunity to give back and share their passion of surfing with someone else. We have seen profound connections and life-changing moments between our volunteer surfers and our disabled surfers. Team Quinn firmly believes in the importance of integrating the disabled population into the community, and our events allow like-minded people to come together and help individuals make connections and build relationships with one another that they wouldn’t have typically had the opportunity to make.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What separates our non-profit from other similar non-profits, is our focus on family and community. We go to great lengths to curate an event that incorporates local businesses that have similar values. We value leading a healthy and active lifestyle and being connected and giving back to our community, and we love to work with brands and businesses who love what we do, what we’re about, and we are committed to giving back to them as well. We strive to keep our events on the smaller and more intimate side. We are intentional about getting to know the families that we serve and are looking to build an inclusive community that is full of real connections and relationships.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Sunset Cliffs has got to be one of the most beautiful places in San Diego and is a must see! Some of my favorite local spots in San Diego are Mitch’s Seafood, El Pescador, Mabel’s Gone Fishing, and Best Pizza + Beer! And of course, if you’re visiting you have got to check out one of our Adaptive Surf Events, typically held in Cardiff or Coronado. Enjoy a beautiful day of surfing and getting to know the best locals!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our volunteers are the heart and soul of Team Quinn. There are so many selfless people that dedicate endless hours of their time to bring our surf events to life. We truly could not do what we do without their sacrifices and their love and commitment to our mission.
