We had the good fortune of connecting with Del Rodrigues and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Del, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
So many thought motived I started my business, I can get couple principles: one was make money to have a great life doing something that I really loved to do, cooking.
The second one and actually was the most important were find something that motived, improve my knowledge, give me a way to follow.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started my business from the zero, I am working in the food industry. The same many people I just had the wish to bring the taste of my food to the world but in this journey I learned that food business are more than have a great product, you need develop methods and ways to people consume your product. It’s envolved education, management and relationship. I started doing a food events and catering, because I didn’t have a high money investment I should make everything by self or very low cost. But everything demand time and constance. After a year I could open my first physical location and more time for make my product a brand that people recognize and wish to consume, couple years more to open second location and now going to a large scale produce my main product that is the cheese breads. A Brazilian specialty bread very consumed in my town but just now people here started to consume.
Anything was easy in any day, I always tried to be positive that my product could be in all US family tables. A important lesson that I leaned was that the food business is not involved just a great product, you need a lot thing more than a great location, right price, right time, you need a fabulous business plan to survive in the market.
The Brazilian Breads is the brand that I created to nominate the bread but these became a coffee place and food that delivery more than breads, we delivery quality and experience.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Because I live in Bay Area bringing people a tour is a pleasure, there are so many thing to visit. I would start from the airport direct for Fisherman Worth and Pier 39, first stop in Ghirardelli to have the delicious hot chocolate. Next step will take cable car toward Downtown San Francisco, visit Union square and back to North Beach, we would stop in any of these great Italian place like Tony Pizza, Monalisa, and Betty Lou’s Seafood. Second Day we could drive to different part of the city visiting Twin Peaks, have a break to take the coffee and cheese bread at Cafe Di Casa (Brazilian coffee shop), enjoy the Castro street. For a perfect lunch break would a take out order from Tartine or some grub and go from Bi-Rite Market and have a picnic in Dolores park, of course bottle wine is very welcome.
One more day in the city we can visit Treasure Island and drive to Berkeley checking vista point and visiting the downtown area, take a train to Walnut Creek have a Happy Hours in Vanessa Bistro.
Time to cross the GoldenGate I really recommend to use bike or walking to feeling the air and appreciate the view from the Bridge, mountain Tamalpais, lunch time in Stinson Beach time to walk and hike around the beach and than have the delicious dinner at The Scoma’s in Mill Valley.
Definitely we would pick a day in Napa Valley and Sonoma County my mandatory stops would be Gloria Ferrer, Chandon and Satutui Wine-village, for sure dinner in Galpao Gaucho Brazilian Steakhouse.
For the weekend ahead we can drive to Carmel / Monterey visit aquarium and couple more wine taste is not bad idea.
If we still have time we could drive to Lake Tahoe, summer or winter we have fun over there.
