We had the good fortune of connecting with Dayne Romano, LCSW and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dayne, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I feel that the most important factor behind my success is: Being honest. I hold honesty at a high standard, because it preserves my integrity
as an individual and also as a business owner, I have created transparency within my business which has built trust with the community and individuals we serve. I feel honesty strengthens relationships. I feel
as a therapist strengthening these relationships can be crucial. I feel that being an example
with people can help their growth. Lastly I fell that being honest it boosts my confidence and self esteem.
I can hold my head high and sleep easily at night.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Twin Peaks Counseling was established in 2018 our office is located in New Haven County in Connecticut. We offer individual, couples and group therapy. We also provide LGBTQ+ inclusion trainings within the community.
I myself have trained hundreds of mental health professionals, as well as hundreds of staff members at local schools and businesses, including medical staff at Griffin Hospital. My most pressing message to them is to respect peoples’s names and pronouns. And to medical people: educate yourselves; don’t expect your patients to educate you.

I am a transgender male and I transitioned in my late 40″s. I feel this helps my work with the community immensely as I understand first hand what it is like to have anxiety, depression, not fit in, have gender dysphoria and the list goes on.
Lived experience is so helpful just as much as the education you receive.
I received my undergraduate degree from Southern Connecticut State University and my Masters degree from Fordham University. I am also an Author or She He Me, published in 2021 (Dayne Bachmann, LCSW).

In September 2022, The Connecticut Voice Honors (celebrating the bold and visionary leaders within the Connecticut LGBTQ= community.) I was awarded for Peoples Choice award.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I honestly am not one to go out on the town. I am happy staying home with a good book or movie. I am definitely an introvert. During the work week I need to be an extrovert due to my job. So I welcome quiet time
so I can recharge.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly, within my business I need to shout out to my clinicians at Twin Peaks Counseling, LLC because without them I don’t have a successful business. I am so grateful for each and everyone of them. They bring their own specialty to the group
which makes Twin Peaks Counseling such a well rounded therapeutic office.
