Meet Darya Moallempour | Marketing and Communications Coordinator and Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Darya Moallempour and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Darya, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important lesson that my career taught me is to never stop learning. I believe that you can be working for 20, even 30 years, and still learn something new. Another important lesson my career has taught me is to love what I do! Sharing your passion with the world is the most rewarding feeling.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always had a passion for marketing and helping the world. I’m so blessed to be a part of a non-profit like Laura’s House. Laura’s House provides safe refuge to men, women, and children escaping life-threatening family situations. We believe that every person has the right to feel safe in his or her own home. Working at Laura’s House has given me the perspective that I can use social media marketing in a powerful way. For instance, one of my tasks is to market our programs and the different services that we offer. I’m most proud of the fact that I’m part of such a wonderful cause. I’m also passionate about makeup artistry. The best part of being a makeup artist is seeing my client’s faces light up. This journey wasn’t easy at all. however; I’m grateful for the steps that I had to take to get there.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Simple. If my friend was visiting the area I would take them to Balboa Island. Balboa is filled with exquisite shops and restaurants. One particular place that I like in Balboa is an ice cream shop called “Sugar n’ Spice The Original Frozen Banana”. They have the best chocolate-dipped bananas and ice cream with delicious toppings such as rainbow sprinkles. If you are looking for a place that has the best authentic Italian food: look no further. Ciao restaurant has the best al dente pasta that melts in your mouth, buttery chardonnay, and pays homage to the iconic Sophia Lauren.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to Laura’s House nonprofit in Orange County. I wouldn’t be here without the guidance and direction of my mentors. Laura’s House gave me hope and believed in me from the beginning. As a Marketing and Communications Coordinator, one of my tasks is to let our audience know that we do have therapy services, educational programs, legal services, transitional living, shelter, etc. I’m grateful to work with individuals who believe in “creating a safe space to empower individuals and families affected by abuse.” They have inspired me through my healing journey as well.
