We had the good fortune of connecting with Danny Moulton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danny, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Balance is incredibly important to me. As my life has gotten fuller, I’ve need to become more lean with the routines that keep me in place. For example, I’ve needed to become way more methodical with my morning routine (a daily non-negotiable), and I’ve needed to re-define what having a good workout means (25 minutes is plenty). Ultimately, finding balance is dependent upon my ability to get out of my own way and see the beauty right in front of me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a self taught adventure and lifestyle photographer. I got started about 6 years ago when my dad bought me a beginner DSLR for Christmas. I started shooting everything and soon developed a nack for taking movie-like, cinematic shots. I’d add grain to everything. Then, I incorporated my love for surfing and the ocean and started selling prints. I love the fine art side of photography. Since then I’ve expanded on that outdoors niche and have shot some big campaigns for companies like Merrell and Shinola. I think those are what I’m most proud of. The road has not been easy, and I have not no means ‘made it’ but I’ve always been able to keep going during the tough times. I’m grateful for the grit.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Anything outdoors that can get the adrenaline pumping a bit. I love taking friends to surf when they’re in town. A lot of my network is east coast based, so when they come west I like to give them that experience. Living in LA truly offers so much, from mountains to ocean. Ultimately though it would depend who it is! I try to be as mindful as possible.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is dedicated to my sister, my biggest fan, who passed away in September.
