Meet Dahlia Maman | Parent Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dahlia Maman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dahlia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I never thought I would actually start my own business, it kind of just happened. I earned my parent coach certification and I wasn’t sure what I would do with it. I knew I wanted to help parents but I actually always that more in a school setting. When I realized that schools don’t really work with parent coaches I decided to start promoting my own work and thats how my business started. I felt there was a need for parent coaching.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started my parent coaching practice in 2016. My biggest challenge was getting the word out about what parent coaching is. I feel that the parents who need coaching the most do not see they need the support and the parents who are doing such an amazing job are the ones that reach out. To me it’s a little bizarre. I got started in parent coaching because ever since I was young I loved kids. I’ve worked in so many places with kids, camp counselors, Ymca programs, over night camps and being a preschool teacher. After having my own children I still wanted to work and help kids but I was in need of some adult conversations and felt coaching would be the perfect fit. Speaking and working with adults but indirectly benefiting the children. My true love is coaching and my struggles are marketing myself and getting my name out there. I’m most proud when I work with families and they start to see all of their children’s strengths and see their wonderful children in a new positive light.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love the outdoors and nature and I love to eat. I would take my friend, to walk around La Jolla beach and look at all the sea lions. We would go to eat sushi at Himitsu and of course get Gelato. We would also need to walk at coronado beach and get bike rentals, along with food and Gelato. My favorite meal out is breakfast however I also love some good sushi.
I am all about building relationships so I just enjoying spending the day out with a friend, whether it is walking around one of the beautiful san diego beaches, or shopping at UTC mall.
I would also go see a fun movie at Cinopolis. Oh and can’t forget to grab a drink at Monarch and see the beautiful sunset.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Shoutout goes to my husband Steven Maman. Without him backing me up, and watching our 4 children while I was coaching, taking classes or speaking he was the one running the show at home, while running his own business as well.
