We had the good fortune of connecting with Cyn Medina aka Cyn xoxo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cyn, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to be able to provide a safe, welcoming, and memorable experience for the diverse enthusiasts of pop culture tattoos. I additionally wanted be able to represent the Japanese kawaii (cute) aesthetic within my business that is not traditional with most tattoo shops. It is also important that all the tattoos created by the artist at Tattoo Tomodachi will be of the highest quality pertaining to anime, manga, comic books, science fiction/fantasy film, horror, toys, collectible card games, video games, tabletop role-playing games, webcomics, and Western animation.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My professional journey has been a tumultuous one, filled with obstacles that tested my spirit. Overcoming a negative apprenticeship experience required immense strength and perseverance, but it shaped me into a more resilient and well-rounded individual. Throughout this challenging path, I was incredibly fortunate to have a support system of people who unwaveringly believed in my dream of owning a tattoo shop, providing the unwavering encouragement that carried me through.
These experiences taught me invaluable lessons. I discovered the power of relying on my support system, recognizing that I am never alone in my struggles. And within myself, I unearthed a deep well of resilience that fueled my relentless pursuit of my ambitions, no matter the setbacks or hardships faced.
Today, I want the world to know that Tattoo Tomodachi represents more than just a studio. It is a sanctuary of creativity, a haven for individuals seeking to express their love for pop culture in the form of ink. My passion for this art form runs deep, and it is my mission to create a safe, welcoming, and unforgettable space where fans from all walks of life can receive the highest quality geek/nerd tattoos. Additionally, my love for pink symbolizes the vibrant and bold spirit that I bring to my craft, embodying the essence of individuality and self-expression.
Through it all, my journey serves as a testament to the transformative power of perseverance, the unwavering support of loved ones, and the unyielding pursuit of one’s dreams.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My first thanks goes to the love of my life, Adam for all of her love and continued support. He has tolerated many years of me countlessly working strenuously on my artistic goals and continued to inspire me every step of the way. He is my candle in the dark, my anchor at sea, and my rainbow in the sun. I could not ask for a better friend, guide, or beloved.
My second thanks goes to my amazing sister! Your unwavering support throughout my journey as a tattoo artist has been incredible. From believing in my talent to providing constant inspiration and encouragement, you have been there through it all. Thank you for being my rock and for playing a vital role in shaping me into the artist I am today. I am forever grateful for your love, support, and the bond we share. Cheers to you, the best sister anyone could ask for!
