Meet Corey Sigue | Motivational Speaker & Leadership Consultant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Corey Sigue and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Corey, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Reflecting on my life prior to starting my own business, I realized that I was always the positive energy and person who approached things with a “we can do this” mentality. It was a gift that I thought was something everyone had, but they just didn’t like to speak up about it as much as I do. I spent quite a few years pouring that positivity and can do attitude into other people. I was really just trying to get other people to see the greatness within themselves. One day I gave my usual morning speech to my team in which a few of them said after, “more people need to hear this.” That statement resonated with me and I began to tell myself I had to stop being selfish with what I was saying. Selfish in a sense that I was limiting my audience to only people in my workplace. That’s where this journey began. In doing so, I’ve realized that those far fetched dreams I had of impacting people all over the world weren’t so unattainable.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m a keynote speaker and leadership consultant. I specialize in helping to unlock the best version of people. I truly believe when you begin the pursuit of becoming the best version of yourself, you can then help others do the same. The road to success always has peaks and valleys. Thus, the reason for my business and podcast name “Elevation Change.” Much of growing any business has many layers of struggles to overcome. From self-doubt to embracing your gift and purpose to finding clients and truly building a brand that will one day reach many households. Even currently, as I’ve embraced everything internally, I am striving to book consistent speaking engagements in order to truly grow my business at the highest level. I’m currently on the part of the journey where I need everyone to know who I am and what I do. If you’re reading this, share this with someone.
I want the world to know that in everything I do, it’s approached with my authentic self. I want people to embrace their authenticity because it’s what makes us who we are. It’s the number one topic I end up addressing at any event or consultation. When you embrace who you are, the world starts to position you.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There’s so much to do in Houston, Tx. As far as food goes definitely check out my favorite steakhouse Gatsby’s. There’s entirely too many brunch spots in Houston but to name a few, The Breakfast Klub, Bosscat Kitchen, and Rockhouse. I don’t eat burgers, but I’ve heard Trill burger was good, shoutout to Bun B. There’s literally everything though. The museums are nice, you can find live music in a ton of places. I’m not a big night life person, but there’s a bunch of bars and clubs to go to. I also may be out of the loop because things change so quickly I prefer to just hang around the house.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I love that this question was asked. So many people try and act like it didn’t take a village to get them to where they are. This “self made” term is thrown out there and 99.9% of the time noone is truly self made. I’ve had a ton of help on my journey. Forgive me if I forget any names, but of course I have to start out with my mom and dad. They have both been able to pour into me over the years and instill belief in me. We come from small town New Iberia, La and being in that environment it’s hard to see a vision so big when you’re not exposed to much. I’d love to give give a shoutout to my mentors Eric Thomas and CJ Quinney for helping me really understand how the business of speaking works. I definitely have to give a shoutout to Brandon Sweeney for taking me under his wing when I first began. I also want to shoutout his new church that opened in college station texas, Salt City Church. Oh man, to name a few more pivotal people… Tyler Campbell, Tyrus Shivers, Shannon Smith, Jay Allen and shoutout to my wonderful girlfriend for the love and support.
