We had the good fortune of connecting with Claude Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Claude, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Over the past 28 years, I’ve been honored to serve in the nonprofit sector to build economic, social, moral and life impact for youth, children and families. I was blessed to be able to build bridges between the philanthropic, nonprofit, corporate and government sectors. In November of 2022, I decided it was time to build greqter success as a business owner and I started Onyx Strategic Partners.. I felt a great sense of urgency and purpose given the vast needs of so many nonprofit leaders across the country.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
From as far back as I can remember, I’ve always been a connector, convener and collaborator. I’m committed to advancing equity and inclusion while being a staunch advocate for youth and children. I’m a servant leader who works to build bridges of commonality and fairness. I believe that problems are opportunities to bring out promise and possibilities. In life, we will all face challenges but we have a choice to ensure that problems don’t become conditions in our lives. Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We must go to a sports game, catch a play at the theater, visit a museum and a great restaurant

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My wife Heather Ireland Robinson has been a great source of continued support and encouragement throughout the process of starting Onyx. She is the Executive Director of the Jazz Institute of Chicago and mother of our 3 children. She is an absolute blessing. Her commitment to my vision and dreams is invaluable.
