We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christina, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I initially chose to take on the pursuit of creating my own business, I was chasing freedom. Freedom to travel and to have the opportunity to consistently reignite my source of inspiration. To explore and create on every level. I loved the idea of inspiring others to chase their dreams as well.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Im a self-taught artist, born in New Hampshire. I was raised in an area influenced by nature and its beauty. I began accumulating a skill set with a variety of mediums early on; later favoring charcoal and oil paint for its raw, romantic and earthy qualities. Nature, spirituality, and nostalgia are a strong influence in my work and life. Filling my pieces with energy, I create with passion having my experiences inspire me. Hoping to allow others to live vicariously through them and see life through different perspectives. My paintings, drawings and photographs are captured through my love of travel. My work has been displayed in shows, galleries and private homes across the country.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would want to show them the beauty of the coast. Torrey pines is an obvious staple of San Diego county. Walking through downtown Encinitas with everything from Swamis to the botanical gardens to the unique and family owned shops and restaurants would also be a must. Ive always loved Carlsbad village and finding nature walks in the area like Batiquitos Lagoon Trail or Potato Chip Rock via Mt. Woodson. I would also plan a day trip to Idyllwild. Devils Slide Trail is one of my favorite hikes in the country and the town is so quaint. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to Jerry Mejia. Jerry has been my rock, my idea guy, my manager, marketer, and greatest cheerleader. He was also my soulmate. My best friend, my adventure buddy, my world..and in November he passed away. This world lost a great and honorable man. I hope to always carry on his soul and spirit. He will forever be my deepest source of inspiration. So thank you Jerry, for being every thing that you were. For me, your family, your friends and everyone else that you made an impact on. We will never forget you.
