Meet Cher Rue | Executive director of Plus Size Pageant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cher Rue and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cher, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I hope people think about size acceptance and that it’s what is inside of people that matters not what people look like. I feel the human race is like a zoo… large people small people tall people and short. The animal world has Giraffes, elephants, monkeys, lions etc. Many different looks just like us! Your spirit is your true self not what we look like.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My experience of being a Director for plus size pageants is very rewarding. To see women feel good and be inspired to be beautiful at any size.
It warms my heart to see people happy and shine.
I’m a actor and and producer I was producing plus size fashion shows and a pageant reached out for me to be a director for California , i knew nothing of pageantry but surrounded myself with knowlegeable women who helped me and I found out it was challenging and fun.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My fav spot in Orange County is the beach just to go and meditate and listen to the waves. Shopping in the area or just to go to Balboa island for cocolate covered bananas. i always find the best sushi in the area and my friends love it!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to Shout out to Lisa Taylor She is a top producer of Mary Kay cosmetics but so much more. She is always helping others it is a passion of hers. Wedding makeup pageant makeup or just helping women look beautiful! She is always available to help me when I need her.
