Meet Catherine Martinez | Founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Catherine Martinez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Catherine, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
When I started Aesthetic Events, the work-life balance was definitely a challenge. Like many small business owners, I poured countless hours into building my stock, marketing the brand, and ensuring every event exceeded client expectations. It was rewarding, but it left little time for personal life.
Over time, as the business grew and systems were put in place—like online booking and streamlined processes—I was able to delegate and prioritize better. Expanding the team and setting clear boundaries also allowed me to reclaim personal time while still maintaining the high standards that define Aesthetic Events

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets us apart is our commitment to detail and personalization. Whether it’s a romantic proposal or a celebration with marquee letters, champagne walls, and custom backdrops, our goal is to make every event unique, beautiful, and meaningful.
The most valuable lesson I’ve learned is the importance of adaptability. Each event brings its own challenges, and being able to pivot and problem-solve quickly is essential. I’ve also learned that building strong relationships—with clients, vendors, and my team—is key to long-term success.
Aesthetic Events isn’t just about creating beautiful setups; it’s about creating meaningful memories. We care deeply about the details because we know how much the moments we’re part of mean to our clients. My story is proof that passion and persistence can turn a dream into something much bigger.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d start with a relaxing day at Mission Beach, strolling the boardwalk, grabbing food from Draft, and enjoying sunset drinks at a beachside bar. For some adventure, we’d go hiking at Torrey Pines State Reserve, followed by a visit to Seaport Village for shopping, waterfront views, and a casual dinner. Evenings would include trying local breweries like Ballast Point or Modern Times and dining at Little Italy for a culinary treat. This mix of beach time, outdoor activities, and great food captures the fun and excitement of San Diego.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to dedicate my shoutout to my family and friends who believed in me from the very beginning. When I first started Aesthetic Events, their encouragement and support gave me the confidence to pursue this dream. They were my cheerleaders, test clients, and even helped me set up events when I was just getting started.
I also owe a lot to my first customers—those who trusted me with their special moments before Aesthetic Events became what it is today. Their trust and word-of-mouth recommendations were instrumental in growing the business.
