Meet Carly Burkhart | Owner of Authentic Form Clothing Co

We had the good fortune of connecting with Carly Burkhart and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carly, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
We have a new project in the works called “The CommuniTEE Project ” which helps support small local artists and creators like ourselves around San Diego. This is a collaboration between AFCC and the featured artist to come up with a one of a kind design for a graphic t-shirt to showcase that specific individual as a creator. Giving others a blank canvas to work with and show off who they are is something we take great pride in.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My motivation for starting AFCC was simple. I always had a hard time finding clothing that I like that also fits me well. I love wearing t-shirts so I decided to start there. I spent a lot of time finding the right material and sizing for that nice ‘fitted t-shirt feel”. I’ve gotten really positive feedback from customers on how comfortable and well-fitting the shirts are which makes me really excited to keep expanding. My long-term goal is to branch out to more clothing like button-ups, pants, shorts, etc.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For good eat’s variety is everything. In the heart of Rolando, you can find a gem of a restaurant by the name Garden Kitchen. Chef Coral Strong creates from scratch, a true farm to table menu every week. With wine pairings beautifully selected for the 7 course tasting menu on Fridays and Saturdays, it’s truly an experience you’ll never forget! You can’t visit without getting your caffeine fix and Light Bulb Coffee shop is one of our go-to’s especially the Turkish Hazelnut Latte. Site seeing in San Diego is one of the many reasons people come to visit so anywhere you go you’re bound to find a stunning palm tree sunset-filled view but Ocean Beach is the iconic place to go walking alongside the pier. After all that you want to relax, what better place than Therapie Day Spa with two locations in Ocean Beach & La Mesa for a spa day!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My girlfriend Sin absolutely gave me the confidence I needed to start my own business. She encourage me to look at the positives when all I had was doubt that my idea was any good so this is all thanks to her!
