Meet Carl Jackson | CEO and Motion Picture Executive

We had the good fortune of connecting with Carl Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carl, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I honestly got tired of seeing major studios like Paramount, Warner Bros, and Universal, make money off of black and brown people, but not make films that uplift or enlighten them.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am the CEO and Founder of Carl Jackson Entertainment. IT owns Carl Jackson Studios, CJC Networks, TheGrid Networks, and 77 Network.
Carl Jackson has executive produced, produced, and directed several films including, “Inhumanity”, “Church” starring Irma P. Hall, the DOVE Foundation-approved film “Southern Girls” with original music produced by Phil Keaggy, “Blissful Lies” starring Emmy Award-winning Leann Hunley, and “Carl Jackson’s The Jesus Freak”.
Carl Jackson Entertainment is in various stages of production including “The Exceptional Santa Claus,” “P31” and “LAX to Paris” the sequel to the hit film “LAX” starring Andrea McClew. Carl Jackson Ent has just signed a 10-picture film deal with Buffalo 8 (as reported in DEADLINE) and has a long-standing deal with FOX’s Tubi.
“I don’t believe our work is set apart, I believe that life is one big portrait of moments that we won’t fully understand until we have lived a long time. And even in that understanding, to know that we are all connected to even a bigger portrait of moments… puzzles me.
It’s not easy but it’s rewarding and it teaches you. The challenge is to overcome the ego, I did this or I did that. The “look at me ” show on the ME network.
I have learned when they praise you…stay humble. When they don’t…..STAY HUMBLE”.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I don’t hang out. I write a lot and sleep a lot and play with my 8-year-old daughter a lot. So I’m not the fun guy. But I do like small weekend getaways in the San Diego area. I love exploring new restaurants or resorts.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shout-out to all of the businesses that are fighting daily. And I must say a special shout-out to Verdine White of Earth, Wind & Fire as he has given me billions of dollars worth of advice and hours of conversation about life. And to the late Al Shore former Vice-President at 20th Century FOX.
