We had the good fortune of connecting with Bridget Walton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bridget, we’d love to hear about a book that’s had an impact on you.
I’m a big audiobook gal and have listened to Atomic Habits by James Clear once or twice a year since I first found it. For those who aren’t familiar with it, it’s a great guide to implementing habit successfully in your life and I find it to be an amazing tool that helps me with my goals in any area of life. I love this idea that starting to change and morph into your new version of yourself starts with, potentially, just a few small habit changes that can snowball and transform. The book has also had a big impact on me because in my one-on-one work with clients, most of our work together is mapping out how to implement habit changes in their lives so they can reach their health goals and feel better. Becoming familiar with the tips and tricks outlined in Atomic Habits has been a great foundation to help my clients see success, and for myself!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
There are too many women who are struggling with period problems and digestive discomfort and it’s my goal to help them understand how they can feel confident and strong in their health. It’s because of this that I found my business, I’m Hormonal — a wellness brand aimed to support busy women in reclaiming their balance and vitality through personalized coaching.

For all of the gals out there who have unpredictable periods, frustrating acne, low energy, annoying bloating, and fertility concerns–I’m here for you.

After years of having my own confusion and struggles with hormone balance, I realized that women need and deserve more access to information about what our bodies are trying to tell us and what we can do about it. There is SO much that we can do through nutrition and through mastering some basics that move the needle on challenges like acne, low energy, crazy periods, or missing periods altogether. Back in 2023, I started my podcast, “I’m Hormonal” to help address just this topic — and honestly I’ve always loved teaching and speaking, so it was a perfect creative outlet for me too.

I decided to name my business and podcast I’m Hormonal because, in part, I think we need to collectively rewrite the script on what that statement means. It’s always been something negative, an insult, or a dismissal, but while our hormones are absolutely essential for everyday life — they can also be an asset for women. What a gift that we get to live cyclically and see things from different points of view sometimes. Being hormonal is a strength, not a weakness.

As a coach, I LOVE working with clients and right now I focus on supporting women one-on-one for now. (New offerings, coming soon!)

Something that sets me apart from other coaches out there is my focus on supporting ambitious, high-performing women. I come from a background as an Officer in the Marine Corps and a career in corporate sales — two fields that lack neither stress nor an on-the-go lifestyle. Living and working in those environments taught me a TON about how to support my hormones and I love helping other women accomplish the same thing: feeling nourished, strong, and resilient whether you’re at home, running from meeting to meeting, or on the road for work or pleasure. My experiences in those high-paced environments helps me support the many many gals who currently find themselves in those spaces — and I want to help them perform their best, score that promotion, or get that recognition by helping them optimize their health.

In my practice, I use lab testing with clients which, for many, is beyond valuable because it provides a clear, quantifiable picture of where her hormones are at now and what we need to focus on to get her to her health goals. This is one thing that sets me apart from other coaches, but thanks to my training as a Functional Hormone Specialist I’m able to bring this in to support my clients.

Take imperfect action — this is something that I’d love to shout from the rooftops! Whether it’s in business or it’s with your health, taking SOME change is better than staying stagnant or being afraid to adjust. We put so much pressure on ourselves to do things perfectly and it’s just not necessary–you should take it easy on yourself. This is totally a message that I need to remind myself of on the regular, don’t get me wrong, but it can really free you from overthinking and inaction.

On this note of imperfect action — my main takeaway from starting a business was that sometimes you’ve just got to go through it. You’ve got to learn things the hard way. You’ve got to do some things twice or three times before you get it. I was almost afraid of having to redo things or not having it “perfect” the first time–but once you try it and then improve it, there’s so much satisfaction in seeing your own growth.

I would love to see a world where women feel in control of their hormone health, free of confusion and frustration — and I’ll be working everyday to get us closer to that place.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Encinitas, so we’d start out at Nectarine Grove for lattes and brunch, then walk up to Neptune for a stroll. I’m basically 90 years old already and my favorite thing to do with friends is just go for walks, oftentimes along the 101 between Swamis and the Cardiff kook. If we’re not at Nectarine Grove, we’re enjoying the sun in Adirondack chairs at Pannikin or my the fountain outside of Bird Rock Coffee Roasters. Moonlight Beach is my usual sunset destination, and where I aspire to get back into the swing of playing beach volleyball on weekend mornings. When I’m up for a spa day, my go-to is Rancho Valencia; I love to spend a whole day at the spa relaxing and make an occasion out of it with my closest friends. I’d also definitely take an out-of-towner to the meditation gardens–it’s so beautiful there. On the way to drop my friend off at the airport, we’d stop by at one of my favorite places to get dessert in San Diego — Hinar. They have the BEST cheesecake and I will make an excuse to go to San Diego just so I can grab a treat.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout is going to my two best friends, Leslie and Serena. They have been such sources of both inspiration and grounding for me as I contemplated starting a business and when I finally took the leap. I’m so grateful for their friendship, their support, and for always being here to listen to me and share their advice. I also have to shoutout my boyfriend, Ilya, who has been here with me since the start of my business endeavors and who endlessly offers his help to me as well as inspiring me to succeed. Love you guys!
