We had the good fortune of connecting with Brianne Calabrese and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brianne, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I have always been the “big” girl in my group growing up and even present day. I love to support small business, I think it’s so so important to support those with ideas and entrepreneurship. I love to go to pop up events and shop, however one day I came across a cute dress(think 90s clueless vibes) and I asked if they had it in a 2x and of course the answer was NO, it’s been NO my entire life. That day I went home and Google how to start my own boutique and that’s how the process started. I wanted to bring more options to those with curves, and more fashionable pieces that make you feel confident in your skin!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My boutique is different because i am here for my curvy queens! curvy, and plus size people have a safe place to shop at that’s not a corporate store. Our options are very limited already, and to bring awareness that just because we are Curvy and have a little more to love does not mean we want to be covered with ugly patterns or clothes that don’t compliment our bodies. We want crop tops, dresses, boots shorts too! This road has been exhausting and exciting at the same time, I learned that social medial plays a HUGE role in business and I was definitely behind when it came to social media, that’s been a challenge for me but I continue to learn and go outside my box everyday! Mental health plays a big role in business as well, you must be in a good head space because there are good days and bad days and it can make or break you! I want the world to know that my brand speaks for the all the people who want to look and feel confident and sexy, to understand that beauty has no size and its not defined by the number on the scale or the size of your shirt, when you come to my boutique I promise you will walk out with a big smile and a beautiful outfit to strut your stuff in. ❤️

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
San Diego is amazing. You’ll never be bored here and if you are well maybe big city isn’t for you! I am a big happy hour gal my favorite spots are dune din, king and queen cantina, morning glory for breakfast, gossip grill and baja bettys. Torrey pines hike has amazing views, Annie’s canyon is a mimic of Sedona AZ and we have some of the best farmers markets here. Hillcrest(which I’m at) and little Italy are the best. Over summer we have PRIDE, and Comic-Con and both are SOOO fun to go to!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife(kayla) has been nothing but AMAZING. Whenever I have a vision she brings it to life by building me racks, tables, chairs or buying something to add to the collection.

All my friends that have supported me by hanging at an event with me, or purchasing from me, to helping build a website and some have helped when it was scorching hot, and during crazy night block parties. I couldn’t do it without them!
