We had the good fortune of connecting with Brianna Beck and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brianna, why did you pursue a creative career?
I found myself feeling bored and uninspired in my corporate job and began questioning if this was the right path for me. I had always loved photography and content creation, but I was scared to pursue photography as a career. After some serious consideration, I thought to myself, “life is too short to not take a chance on what truly brings you joy”. Now, I have the opportunity to share my skills and inspire others to see the endless creativity and storytelling possibilities that food and products have through my photography. Pursuing a career I am passionate about has brought me so much joy and I am so happy I took that leap of faith.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a food and product photographer based in Southern California, having lived and worked in both LA and Orange County.

I love the endless realm of creative possibilities at my disposal within the studio. Whether it’s for a client or a personal project, I strive to showcase my subjects in a fun and unique manner by playing around with different colors, lighting and compositions.

However, all the fun and magic doesn’t always take place within my studio. I’ve worked with multiple local small businesses and have set up shop on-site for my clients that needed pictures of their offerings at their locations. This has been an incredibly rewarding experience as it gets me out of my studio from time to time and also allows me to get to know other business owners like me looking to showcase the best version of themselves to the world.

I’ve come to notice that many brands and businesses tend to not seek out the most creative and unique expressions of their products and typically follow the status-quo when it comes to their imagery. This is where I love to come in and help them truly visualize what is possible with their brand and show them how these simple photos can be transformed into unique imagery that tells a story unlike any of their competitors.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a big foodie so I always keep food spots at the forefront when planning any itinerary in Southern California. One of my top recommendations is Tatsu on Sawtelle. Another favorite is Leo’s Tacos, a quick and convenient spot to grab some of the best tacos in LA.

But as far as activities to do in Southern California, I love taking friends and family to the Griffith Observatory for amazing views of LA. A visit to LACMA is also a must on any itinerary. And of course, no trip to California would be complete without a trip to the beach! One of my favorite beaches is Laguna Beach in Orange County. It’s such a beautiful spot that also boasts an abundance of fantastic art. I also highly recommend South of Nicks in Laguna during sunset for delicious food and breathtaking views.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to recognize my parents and boyfriend, they have been extremely supportive throughout my journey as a photographer and business owner. My parents instilled in me a strong work ethic, always reminding me to show up and give my all in everything I do. My boyfriend encouraged me to purchase my first camera years ago and helped me out with many of my early photoshoots. I know that when times get tough I have them to lean on and push me to be the best version of myself. I would not be here today doing what I love without all of their support.
