Meet Briana von Prisk | Videographer & Owner of BVPVIDS

We had the good fortune of connecting with Briana von Prisk and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Briana, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
As a full-time, student and a business owner, I quickly learned that nothing that is easy will be rewarding. I promised myself that I would not drop out of school and to practice doing all projects, assignments, and gigs full-heartedly. Videography is a time-consuming job, and requires several hours filming, uploading, processing, and editing. I do get discouraged sometimes when I notice that everything is piling up, but I am also blessed enough to be able to have started a business off a passion of mine. In the end, this quote just reminds me that I am doing all of this for a reason and a purpose.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Videography is a creative industry. There’s the beauty of being able to create different videos every single time, and there is the danger of getting creative blocks for short or long periods of time Which is something that I personally struggle with because I must stay focused on my schoolwork whilst refreshing my creativity every now and then. I am blessed in that videography is my form of therapy and honestly an escape from hard things that might be going on in my life. I’m extremely proud of how far my business has come in such a short time, not only due to my own efforts but from people that I have met and networked with. Several people have come alongside my business and shared my work with brand CEO’s, college coaches, etc. Since I am a new and small business, I still have a journey ahead of me and I am so excited to go through this journey, reach milestones, achieve lifelong goals, and see where God is going to take me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
San Diego has the beauty of having a diverse range of cultures all around the city. One of my favorite food trucks is Mariscos El Pescador located in Chula Vista. I go most Sundays with my family, we all love seafood, and this is our number one spot. Their aguachile is so flavorful and so are their shrimp cocktails. I take some of my out of state family to Salud! in Barrio Logan all the time! Their tacos are spectacular, and the atmosphere is certainly a place to be! Sometimes when my friends and I are stressed out we go to Sunset Cliffs in Point Loma and just listening to the waves crash give us peace. San Diego is a beautiful place to be, and every town you go to has different gems!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I started videography in my junior year as a hobby for my school’s football team, but I never really took it seriously as a business until around 6 months ago because of a determined mentor, Coach Jameson. He saw something in me that made me believe that I could do it even though I knew nothing about videography or editing. Coach Jameson just stepped up and became the head coach at the Rock Academy, and with that he gave me a lot of creative freedom for visions that I had for their team. He let me manage their Instagram account, make different reels/videos, and run my first media day for their team. He pushed me to move out of my comfort zone and congratulated me when I started covering different teams and expanding my clientele and portfolio. I am so grateful that Coach Jameson was placed in my life because I would not be where I am without him!
