We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Vukadinovich and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brian, what are you inspired by?
I am inspired by people who stand up for their rights and speak out, particularly against governmental corruption and specifically with respect to judicial corruption which is a big problem in our country. The state and federal judiciaries routinely go out of their way to deprive people of their rights when people exercise their rights to seek judicial redress for wrongs committed against them by governmental agencies and corporations as courts routinely rule against the people and in favor of governmental agencies and corporations. People who courageously stand up against such judicial oppression are a major inspiration to me in my quest to force much needed judicial reforms in the state and federal courts in the United States.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am by profession a retired teacher and high school and college basketball coach. I am now an author and public speaker as my career path changed years ago when I was subjected to numerous false arrests and brutalities at the hands of rogue police in Indiana starting in 1981, and for several years thereafter, who had orchestrated a retaliatory campaign of harassments against me after I successfully sued Valparaiso Indiana police for their initial false arrest and brutality. Hiring lawyers was quite expensive and after learning how your own lawyers cannot be trusted due to local politics, I decided to learn the law and I fired my lawyers and I then represented myself in court. I was able to successfully represent myself in several bogus criminal court proceedings that were filed against me in the police harassment campaign against me in having each and every bogus case dismissed. In 2016 I represented myself in a five day federal civil rights jury trial against a team of corporate lawyers and I was able to win the trial as the jury verdict came back in my favor and I was awarded damages of six figures against my public school corporation employer for the corporation’s violations of my due process rights when it terminated my employment as a teacher. Because it is virtually unheard of for a person to be able to successfully represent himself without a lawyer in winning a jury verdict in a federal civil rights jury trial, the case received substantial regional and national attention.. After I won the federal civil rights trial by representing myself without a lawyer, former federal court of appeals judge Richard Posner contacted me and asked me to come to work for him and he named me executive director of the Posner Center of Justice for Pro Se’s based in Chicago. Unfortunately Mr. Posner reneged on our agreement by refusing to pay me for my work and the matter is currently in federal litigation for breach of contract. There have been many very questionable things that have taken place in the case as it is very apparent that the federal judges in the case want to protect the former federal court of appeals judge, Richard Posner, and do not want the case to proceed to a jury trial as they know I will publicly expose how corrupt the proceedings have been and how corrupt the federal judiciary is. One of Posner’s lawyers, Justin Ellis, out of New York, even went so far as to write a letter directly to the magistrate judge, John E. Martin, asking for the magistrate judge’s “help” and “assistance” to put the case to a “swift end”, which was entirely inappropriate for the lawyer to do such a thing as judges are not supposed to be “helping” and “assisting” certain parties to prevail in the cases —least of all former federal judges who are being sued in their individual capacities for breach of contact. The same lawyer who wrote the letter, Justin Ellis, also filed documents in the case expressing his disdain for the fact that I have written two books about judicial corruption, and he expressed disdain for the public interviews I have done in discussing judicial corruption, and he even went so far as to file several hundreds of screenshots of me doing public interviews while I was publicly discussing the problem of judicial corruption in the American courts. If the case goes to trial, as it should under the Seventh Amendment, I will present substantial evidence of how Posner conned me into working for him in order that he could get free labor from me, and the public will learn how corrupt the proceedings were throughout the litigation —in many different ways— and how Posner’s lawyers lied throughout the litigation about many different things and how the federal judges in the case played ball and accepted the lies by Posner’s lawyers. Posner’s lawyers and the federal judges in the case are fearful of this as they know I have the evidence and that I will indeed expose the lies by the lawyers and the corrupt activities that took place in the nefarious tactics that were utilized to protect the wrongful activities of the defendant, former federal court of appeals judge Richard A. Posner. The intimidation tactics against me by Posner’s lawyers and the federal judges in the case have been many, but their intimidation tactics won’t work as I will neither be intimidated or silenced. I feel very strongly that judicial corruption should be, and must be, publicly exposed. It is a very serious problem in our country. It is no surprise that according to published reports Americans’ confidence in the courts has dropped to a record-low 35% in 2024.

I have written two books “Motion for Justice: I Rest My Case” (2018) and “Rogues in Black Robes” (2023) which are on the shelves of at least 18 libraries around the country including public libraries and the law libraries of Harvard, Yale, and Syracuse law schools, and also in libraries abroad in the United Kingdom, Israel and Japan. I work hard at educating the public at large about the systematic problems of judicial unfairness and corruptions that permeate the state and federal courts around the country, and the consequential need for serious judicial reforms. Being an educator by profession I decided that my mission would also include educating the public as to how lawyers fleece people out of their money —and in doing so many times are not providing adequate legal
representation, and I advise people what to watch for in dealing with their lawyers. After I won the civil rights trial I was asked to speak to a Yale Law School class. In May 2018 I was the featured guest on Pro Se Nation Television based in Princeton, New Jersey where I was interviewed about how I was able to win the federal civil rights jury trial by representing myself without a lawyer. In September 2019 I did a book signing with my book “Motion for Justice: I Rest My Case” in El Paso, Texas to support the #ElPasoStrong campaign just after the horrific shooting massacre at the El Paso Walmart. In January 2022 I was asked to be a presenter for the Martin Luther King Jr. celebration event hosted by Indiana University Social Justice Conference —my presentation was titled “Standing Up for One’s Civil Rights with Brian Vukadinovich”. In March 2024, I was invited to speak at the Vigo County Public Library in Terre Haute, Indiana about my books and my story, and how I represented myself as a pro se litigant (representing oneself without a lawyer) in the state and federal courts. In my mission to educate the public about judicial unfairness and corruption issues, I have written several op-eds which have been published by the Washington Examiner, Kansas City Star, Miami Herald and several other prominent newspapers around the country. I have done numerous podcasts including a recent podcast out of England with a prominent British podcaster where we discussed the similarities and differences between the American and British courts.

The lessons I have learned along the way and what I would like the world to know is that justice is not always “just” and freedom isn’t always “free”. You must fight hard for it!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Quite honestly, there isn’t a whole lot going on in the area I live in in northwest Indiana, so I would have to say a trip to Chicago would be in order. As everybody knows, Chicago is a very vibrant city for things to see and do for everyone of all ages. There are great museums, restaurants and shows and great music at many great venues, and of course how could one forget about the “Mag Mile”, i.e., Michigan Avenue. And if my friend is interested in the legal world and its goings on, it isn’t unusual for an interesting public corruption trial to be going on in the Dirksen Building where criminal prosecutions of public officials in Chicago is a routine thing. I have observed several of them

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my dear brother, Branko, and my dear late mother, Vera, both of whom supported my efforts in my young adult life when I was being persecuted by corrupt police and prosecutors in Indiana who were involved in unsavory retaliatory efforts to take my freedom from me when I was fighting back against several false arrests in northwest Indiana, which was very costly to me in terms of the money I had to spend to fight bogus charges, the damage to my personal and professional reputation, and the damage to my teaching and coaching career. None of the false charges held up but were nevertheless very damaging to my life. Had it not been for my brother and my mother who supported me in every possible way, I would not have been able to successfully fight back against the persecutions. While fighting back rather than surrendering to the infected injustices that were being perpetrated against me by rogue police in their efforts to intimidate and silence me was very costly, it was very important for me to expose the corruption, and expose the corruption I did. I couldn’t have done it without the support of my brother and mother.
