Meet Brian Ernst | Iceman Tribute

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Ernst and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brian, how do you think about risk?
It’s always risky business with Maverick and I we push the envelope as the only Top Gun Tribute recognized around the world. No risk no reward, to be the best of the best you need to be willing to do what other’s cannot or will not do. As we travel around the world in 2024 we will encounter many risks, but the reward is bringing back that loving feeling to everyone we have the pleasure of meeting. We are dangerous so next time you see us at an air show or event be ready with your best Top Gun high five and you can be our wingman anytime!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We pay close attention to the details with our flight suits making sure they are accurate and correct to the movie. Surplus Navy fighter pilot gear from the period early 1980s is highly collectible and not easy to locate. We had many challenges locating the gear and making sure it was accurate down to the patches. We learned many lessons along the way making sure it was all correct. We want everyone to know we are the best Top Gun Tribute!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In San Diego first stop is the USS Midway and the F14 Tomcat. A great place to learn about the history of the ship and see up close all the aircraft on board. Second stop Kansas City Barbeque where they filmed several scenes from the movie. You need to play the piano and get your wingman to sing along…goodness gracious what a great time! Take a walk on Coronado Island beach to North Island and watch as aircraft land on the runway where Top Gun Maverick was filmed. The final stop in Oceanside at the Top Gun house which is now a coffee shop. Take pictures and make a few memories then ride off in the sunset.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My wingman Jerome LeBlanc without meeting him at the Top Gun bar in San Diego aka Kansas City Barbeque, this Top Gun Tribute would not exist. Jerome is truly the best as an artist in many capacities but his genuine concern and love for others as a father and husband is what makes him the best at what he does.![]()
