We had the good fortune of connecting with Brent Fouch and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brent, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
In order to succeed beyond the nine to five grind working your entire life for a few good years to retire, one must take risk along the way. This risk should be educated and thought out and taken when opportunity presents itself. This may take the form of making that investment you know has a very high probability of increasing or starting the business you have always dreamed of but were too afraid to begin.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I developed Brain Computer Interface technology, which allows the user to control the computer through the power of their mind. Using a wireless EEG headset, our software converts brainwaves into actions on the screen via Bluetooth communication. I created the Mind Mouse application, which allows the user to control the entire computer through their thoughts, such as opening web browsers, composing and sending emails all with the power of their mind. This technology did not exist and it takes vision and belief in yourself to successfully get a project like this to the finish line.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spots in San Diego are Torrey Pines nature reserve, the many surf breaks in North County and the great restaurants along the coast. Board and Brew is a favorite lunch spot, where lines form outside the shop due to its popularity. Pizza Port, Brigantine and Best a Wan are some of my favorite places to go for casual dinner.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Shoutout would go to my mother, who encouraged me all along the way to get involved in anything I was interested in and gave me the confidence that I could achieve anything I set my mind to.
