We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Elassaad and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandon, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
I am someone who has never taken no for an answer. From a young age, I always did my best to continue through adversity, no matter what I was met with. From staying out until dark to hit a trick shot to now, making sure everything from behind the lens to what it’s focusing on is picture-perfect, I always strive to exceed expectations. Giving up shows a lot about someone’s deeper character, but there is a difference between knowing when you’ve given your all and when you simply quit.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’d say what sets me apart from the rest of the people, and specifically the creators in my space, is the fact that this is something I knew I was always meant for. Most people in this industry get lucky and find themself in a position that presents itself to them in a manner they wouldn’t expect, that was not the case for me. Ever since I could talk, I had a camera in my left hand and a soccer ball at my feet. I always knew that in some shape or form, my favorite things to do, film and play soccer, would become my job, and it has in such beautiful form. It wasn’t a clear and easy path to this point, and there is still so much more to come, but I knew this was my calling a long time ago.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, San Diego has so much to offer, and it is hard to fit everything into a set plan, but the highlights of the week would most definitely consist of morning runs at Sunset Cliffs, summer game nights at San Diego FC, sunset hikes, endless food options to explore, golf rounds in the sun, and exploring all the beaches we have to offer from Coronado to Wind n Sea.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my success to both of my parents, both of whom have their own unique story where they crossed paths and made their move to San Diego to raise both my brother and me. My father, Abdallah, immigrated to the United States from Lebanon for school in the late 80s with nothing but a hunger for success to his name. My mother, Julia, began the workings of her entrepreneurial mindset, having studied at Boston College, to later run her own antique store, and now works as a real estate agent in San Diego. They have been so supportive of my journey from graduating from Babson College in 2023 to navigating this dream job I have now.
