We had the good fortune of connecting with Billy Schmidt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Billy, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
Inspiring to be creative and try new things… that’s the goal, at least. We hope to instill goodness, kindness, and strength.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Our music has evolved over time… from our psycodelic experimental indie rock phase with Raggy Monster, to the early folk/singer songwriter days of The Whiskey Wasps, to the more electronic stuff we’ve been messing around with lately… and our focus has shifted from playing shows to writing and recording and working on our first book, Mr and Mrs Wasp’s Book of Imaginary Tales. It is a musical concept album with a narrated story and lots of fun details. Excited to share more soon.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My wife is my muse and better half. My parents were instrumental in pushing my sister and I to pursue our creative dreams. Recently we both read The Creative Act by Rick Rubin and it has revived our creative inspiration.
