We had the good fortune of connecting with Billy Bernal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Billy, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
I think the common misconception behind permanent make-up is that it’s specifically for women. In the last 5 years the amount of PMU procedures that are out and available is just amazing; there’s everything from scalp re-pigmentation to scar camouflaging. What a lot of outsiders may not know is that your eyebrows are what give your face expression, they literally frame your face. The best part of microblading is that it looks so natural. It gives the illusion of real hair strokes, helping you achieve your perfect brow. A lot of men are nervous about getting their brows done because they are afraid of it looking too feminine or too precise. In my opinion, microblading is a collaboration between the client and the artist where you work together for that perfect result.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I live by this quote ” What comes easy won’t last, What lasts won’t come easy”. I’ve learned throughout the way that I have to work on my patience. I have big goals for myself and I need to remember that patience is the key to success, Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will BILLY BROWS. I think one thing I want everyone to know is that I spend a lot of time with each of my clients, I listen to there concerns and offer my professional advise, come up with a game plan and execute it to give them “the look” they want to achieve. What sets me apart from other PMU Artist I feel is that I give the client there perfect natural brow, not a stenciled/manufactured brow, it’s there brow but better! and that is all a lot of people want. I have to say that the feeling I get when I hand over the mirror and show my clients there brow is so rewarding, you can’t take away the joy they feel when they are looking at there brows for the first time, it’s thrilling actually! With that being said I would like the world to know that this is truly my passion, I put my heart into each little stroke that I make and I really strive to make everyone happy, one eyebrow at a time!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I actually have quite a few places here in San Diego that I take my family & friends too when they visit. From the jump we start in Little Italy, they have some of the best places to eat breakfast! I am a huge fan of the Iconic Morning Glory, the entire restaurant is amazing food and ambiance alike. After brunch I love walking by the harbor into Seaport Village where I would show them all of the boats as well as world famous USS Midway and all the cute little shops into Seaport. Another cool place I would take my friend and family would be the iconic Kate Sessions Park in Pacific Beach. The views are spectacular you can see all over San Diego from that Park, you can also have a cute little picnic with friends. I think the last place I would take them would be into North Park, I love eating Ramen at the incomparable Underbelly, there is just something to comforting about being able to drink the ramen broth straight from the bowl no spoons allowed. I always think the best way to end a night is with a scoop of Ice Cream so when I’m feeling sweet I head over to Stella Jean’s Ice Cream and grab myself a Madagascar Vanilla on a waffle cone, I’m telling you it is totally worth the sugar rush and crash later on in the day!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for the love and support of my family, friends and boyfriend. Without them I don’t think I would have had the drive to keep going on. I want to thank personally my parents for letting me work out of the house for the first few months of my career and for letting me practice on there faces. It really helped me out a lot. I want to thank my brother and sisters for always sharing my photos and telling there friends about my business, without them I don’t think I would have a following. Lastly I would like to thank my boyfriend Andrian, If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t have gone to the school I went to get my license. He is the best when it comes to hyping me up when I get a new client, Or praying with me when I got nervous with those first few clients or helping me with my content when I get stuck posting the same thing over and over again. Without the love and support of my family, friends and boyfriend I don’t think I would be where I am today.
