We had the good fortune of connecting with Bethany Meyers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bethany, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
Success is only what you make of the experiences and opportunities you have. You can achieve your goals and hit every milestone and still see very little profit. It takes time to connect on a personal level to your customers. They have to trust you and your process, this takes time not fancy containers or great social media posts.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Calling myself an Artist is probably one of weirdest and hardest things I’ve done in my whole life. I’ve always created and been artistic but I never thought I would sell my work. There’s a huge amount of self doubt and exposure you feel laying all your works out to be seen by others. But at the end of the day if you don’t ask and try then it’s all gonna be OK. The worst that happens is it doesn’t sell and I get to gift it or hang my work up myself. I love the process of creating and everything after that is icing on my cake. Hopefully that icing is cash.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would check out The Loft at 3610 Fifth Ave San Diego, CA 92103. Great drinks with good pricing and the atmosphere is super fun. Close to Hillcrest and Balboa Park.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Besides my amazing family and friends supporting my work I’ve met a great business owner Jackie who runs The Cave of Wonders in North Park, CA. Her adorable shop has a fabulous collection of Crystals, Incenses and now my creations including Paintings, Fairy Garden Sculptures, Dream Catchers, Candles, Jewerly and More.
