Meet Ashlyn Miller | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashlyn Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashlyn, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Being a new mom, I quickly realized how important it is to document everything because time goes by too quickly. Since I was a little girl, I have loved not only taking photos, but printing them as well. Something about physically holding a photo in your hand rather than scrolling on to the next one is so special. After seeing the pricing of so many local photographers, wanted to offer affordable photography opportunities to families who want to capture their special moments together. My business was built on the belief that professional photos should be affordable and attainable for all.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
AshMill Photograohy is different from most photography businesses for a few reasons. It is first and foremost affordable. The business was created not to be a “money maker” but was created because of the true passion and love for photos. One of the differences I am most proud of is that I do not pose my clients as much as others might and I don’t believe in heavy editing. Everyone loves a posed “smiley” picture, but the raw and candid moments is what I strive to capture! When I get into editing sessions, I want to enhance the moment – not change it completely. My editing focuses on staying natural. I never want my clients to look at their gallery and think that they look completely different in these captured moments.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being a military spouse, I’m still fairly new to the area! My family moved in July 2021 to sunny California from Houston, TX! I have been fortunate enough to be able to explore the city with my son. We love taking it easy and going to Del Mar beach, San Diego Zoo, and even Disneyland! However, my favorite thing to explore is all of the wonderful food SoCal has to offer. Carlsbad Windmill Food Hall has been my favorite place so far because of all of the options they offer!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank my son, Harlon, for being my inspiration behind my business. As well as thank my husband, Matthew, for supporting any idea I have.
