We had the good fortune of connecting with Anne Caroline and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anne Caroline, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Over time, my work-life balance has evolved significantly. Moving to the US eight years ago, I initially focused on building my business, which required immense dedication and long hours. Establishing myself professionally was challenging, but it was essential for my career growth.

After achieving stability, I had my daughter, which added new responsibilities and prompted me to reassess my priorities. Balancing work and personal life was tough initially, but I realized the importance of setting boundaries, prioritizing tasks, and making time for family and personal rejuvenation.

I now see balance as a dynamic process, integrating both aspects of my life. This approach is reflected in the holistic services we offer at my spa, emphasizing overall well-being. Maintaining a healthy work-life balance is crucial for long-term success and happiness for myself and those I care for.

My career as a holistic health practitioner specializing in lymphatic system treatments has been both challenging and rewarding. What sets me apart is my unique approach, combining ancient wisdom with modern techniques, embodied in my signature Sculpting Detox Massage. This method promotes not only physical health but also mental and spiritual balance.

My journey began eight years ago when I moved to the US. Initially, it was incredibly challenging, as I had to build my business from scratch in a new country, learn a new language, and adapt to a different culture. I overcame these challenges through resilience, dedication, and the invaluable support of my family and mentors.

One of the most significant turning points was recognizing the lack of lymphatic drainage professionals in the US, which inspired me to bring this essential service here. I furthered my education and gained expertise in various holistic therapies, which allowed me to develop my unique techniques and treatments.

I am most proud of founding Up Your Body SPA in 2008 and opening my spa in Del Mar in 2020, right after the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the timing, the spa has thrived, reflecting my hard work and the trust of my clients. I have also created a teaching method and now educate professionals across the USA, certifying over 20 therapists in Manual Lymphatic Drainage and my Sculpting Detox Massage.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way include the importance of adaptability, continuous learning, and the value of community. I want the world to know that my brand is dedicated to promoting holistic well-being and transforming lives through natural and healthy alternatives. My story is one of perseverance, innovation, and a deep commitment to helping others radiate their inner light.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First off, we’d definitely hit up some amazing places to eat. For instance, there’s this incredible spot called Addison where the food is just phenomenal, beautifully presented, and the ambiance is top-notch. Then, we’d have to check out Jeune et Jolie in Carlsbad – they serve modern French-inspired dishes that are both unique and delicious.

One day, we’d probably wander around Balboa Park, visiting a few museums and enjoying the beautiful gardens. Another day, we could relax at La Jolla Cove, maybe even rent some kayaks to explore the sea caves.

Of course, we’d grab dinner at places like Valle, where they blend Baja flavors with modern techniques. And for a great steak night, Born & Raised offers an awesome dining experience with a vintage vibe.

For some fun and casual outings, we could stroll through Little Italy and grab some bites at the Mercato Farmers’ Market or head to Liberty Station Public Market for a variety of eats and drinks.

Also, spending an afternoon in Coronado is a must – visiting the iconic Hotel Del Coronado and lounging on the beach. We’d wrap up the evenings with some cocktails at rooftop bars in the Gaslamp Quarter, enjoying the vibrant nightlife.

San Diego is full of exciting and interesting places, so there’s always something new to discover and enjoy!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely, my success and journey have been greatly influenced by the support and encouragement of several key people and influences. First and foremost, my mother has been my biggest inspiration, instilling in me the values of hard work and resilience. My husband, Alexandre, has been my steadfast supporter, and my daughter, Antonella, continually motivates me to strive for new achievements.

Professionally, Danna Omari played a crucial role in encouraging me to step out of my comfort zone and pursue my dreams, ultimately inspiring me to open my own studio. Nany Motta also deserves recognition for emphasizing the importance of continual learning and growth. Additionally, the challenges and feedback from my clients have been instrumental in refining my skills and driving innovation in my holistic practice. Their support and trust have been invaluable on my journey.
