Meet Ania Prange | Owner of Ania Glam Lab

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ania Prange and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ania, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?

I have considered myself an artist my entire life. I remember the first time I told someone I see things as shapes and colors and they looked so confused! I bring that approach to my work. I look at an individuals hair or face and I see a blank canvas that I was given the honor of making into a masterpiece. I love to paint and create and I thought about how I could pursue this passion and make it into a career. And that’s how Ania Glam Lab was born! I love to enhance peoples natural skin and hair tones and make them feel like the best versions of themselves. Because I’m in a creative career where the models are actual people I get to experience first hand what it’s like to watch people bloom with confidence when they’re pleased with their looks. The smiles and gratitude make it so worth it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart is my approach to what constitutes as beauty. I believe this is rooted in my European background and the traveling I have done. I grew up in a culture and country that celebrates and encourages enhancing the beauty and looks a person was born with. That beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder given all the different cultures and ethnicities out there. Traveling has cultivated within me an interest in human behavior and how you can build confidence by helping people trust in their own beauty.

I’m proud of the fact that I have a good balance between my personal life and and work life. The older I’ve gotten the more I’ve come to understand that it’s truly a unique and relaxed approach to life. But it keeps me inspired and, most importantly, fresh! And I love change. I’ve always done really well with the concept of out with old and in with the new. The more boundaries we can push, the better.

Nice and steady. That’s how I’ve gotten to where I am today. I’ve done lots of exploring on what gives me joy in terms of makeup and hair and, in turn, been able to give that joy to others. I don’t rush in new trends or styles if I know it won’t fit your face or frame. It definitely hasn’t always been easy but I’ve generally been able to tackle challenges by researching, learning, and deciding if I want to let it in or let it go. A lesson I’ve implemented along the way is to try everything 3 times and then make a decision if I like it, is it worth it, and not being afraid to change my mind.

I created Ania Glam Lab to serve and help women and men discover their own beauty. To give them tools to have fun with different looks and style. To instill confidence! Your look can change how you feel, how you perceive yourself, and how others perceive you. Making YOU feel good is Ania Glam Labs mission.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Must Activities for a week in SD
– sailing on the Big Bay
– lunch in Coronado
– diner and cocktail at OB noodle house
– Paddle boarding in Mission Beach
– boardwalk walk or skateboard
– Salty water culture coffee – every morning

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I couldn’t do any of this without the support of my husband. Maybe that sounds cliché but he truly has helped Ania Glam Lab grow by lending a constant ear or shoulder when I needed to bounce ideas, express excitement, vent, rant, etc….He’s always given me that necessary space that we all need for me to keep my mind on the goal of what I was/am creating.

I found a ton of inspiration in the book Stealing Fire by Steven Kotler & Jamie Wheal. I would say the most important take away I found in that book was being true to yourself and YOUR vision above anyone else’s. And how resilience is one of the key foundations to grow a thriving business.
