Meet Angela Mendiola | Licensed Mental Health Therapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Mendiola and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angela, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk is something that I was not prepared for as a child. I have always known that risks are chances that I would have to take on my own in different facets of life especially within my career because waiting for the right time or waiting for others has never worked out for me. The risks that I have taken are the ones that have been the most rewarding.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I can say with great confidence that the one thing that helped to me get to where I am today started with my daily habits. What I do on a daily basis has led me to develop the skill, discipline and tenacity needed in the mental health and business field. Staying active mentally and physically, journaling and addressing my goals each day helped to keep myself and others accountable. The biggest challenge I needed to overcome was the feeling of isolation and making sacrifices. As a mental health provider, it is of the utmost importance for me to be aligned with my personal values and morals as a professional which meant surrendering unhealthy habits and releasing relationships that didn’t allow me to fulfill my purpose in life which is to guide individuals through their journey of healing mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ooh juicy question!! If I my best friend were to visit me, I would definitely suggest that we go island hopping for a few days. I live in Honolulu and discovered that each island has a unique sense of beauty and history to offer. I would suggest that my best friend bring at least one week’s worth of bathing suits and that we spend two days on O’ahu, one day on Maui, two days on Kaua’i and two days on the Big Island. I know for a fact that she would love to hang out in North Shore of O’ahu and on Kaua’i. We would likely visit her sister who lives in the countryside of Maui and stop at the lavender garden :).
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would not be where I am today without family.. Their love, acceptance and support have carried me through many trying and gloomy times. I would not have been able to pursue my goals or develop the discipline and strength to become a female entrepreneur if it weren’t for my family, I love you all!
