We had the good fortune of connecting with Angel Nguyen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angel, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
An end goal has been difficult to envision. Recently that has changed over time. When I first started my business during the worst of Covid as a nurse, I didn’t actually think it would grow to be where it is today. The perfect end goal now would be to have a self sufficient boutique/handmade business where I can enjoy making my products. I do want to continue my nursing path but at the same time be able to continue making both my patients and my customers happy.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a nurse by trade. Having grown up with a father who was always in and out of the hospital, I grew up with a passion for helping others. I can’t say it was exactly easy. There were lots of obstacles leading up to me getting a nursing degree. I went through medical assisting and trade colleges to get to where I am today instead of the normal 4 year college/uni route. Funds were a big issue as well as time management as my parent’s health deteriorated. The biggest lesson learned would be to always be patient. Your goals will be met with hard work as long as you are patient and works towards them. Don’t give up! Collectively Loving Boutique started out as a hobby to keep me busy and honestly sane during covid but it has grown to be so much more. From making customers happy with their custom items to donating toys and more to children’s hospitals. I hope to continue doing so in the future.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh wow, this is a hard question! If my friend were to come I would likely take them to camp at Yosemite! A week is perfect for driving there and camping at Bass Lake. We would hike daily to visit the Domes as well as swim and play in the lake. There is so much to see and do just at Yosemite alone. Even grilling and bbqing your own food!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes! My crafting partner Quynh (Nicole) Tran has been there for me 100% of the time. She has always encouraged me through my ups and downs. I would not be here if not for her and her husband always supporting me and cheering me on. My friend Kacey Beal who started her own business has also been a great mentor. She has taught me so much!
