We had the good fortune of connecting with Aneet Chhabra and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aneet, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?

It might be safe to say that I stumbled into entrepreneurship. Before starting my business, I had been working as a developer for almost 9 years, and I did not see myself doing anything else. Though I loved solving problems (which led me to coding in the first place), I never felt like I was in the right place. I was always a creative person and found joy in painting, writing, and taking long walks in nature. The nature of my job did not align with my personality, but I was too scared to give up on the safety of a 9-to-5. The long hours, tough competition, and my drive for perfectionism left me feeling continuously depleted and unsatisfied. I knew I needed to take it slow, but I had no idea how.

It was during this time that someone asked me if I could build a website for them. The process of building that first website and the joy I saw in my client’s eyes when they saw the finished product changed everything for me. I realized I could do so much more than sitting behind a cubicle; I could use my creative and technical skills to help people put their business out there, and that was the birth of Brand Unpuzzled. Since then, it has been a constant process of improving and adding skills to ensure I can provide the best services to the community of female business owners I proudly serve.

Ironically, I now put in more hours than I ever did in my job! But being my own boss and setting my own time has helped me create space for my mind and body. The satisfaction I get from creating beautiful branding and websites that give my clients the confidence to promote their business is much more than any corporate job could ever give me.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have a branding, web design, and marketing business named Brand Unpuzzled! What sets my business apart is my commitment to providing the best customer experience. My goal is to take the hassle out of design and technology, by providing design and website solutions that not only stand out but also drive tangible results. As a business owner myself, I understand the everyday frustrations of running a business; that is the reason a major part of my process is listening to all my clients’ problems and providing strategic solutions for their branding and website. I strongly believe that every business, regardless of its size, deserves a compelling online identity. I use my experience and skills to create custom websites and branding that speak to the target audience and help business owners promote their business with confidence.

Owning and running a business hasn’t been easy. Though design and development came easy to me, I knew nothing about running a business. There is so much to do, from business taxes to contracts, to sales calls. I had to learn everything from scratch. It certainly hasn’t been easy, but I am a strong believer in learning. I have (and still do) spent countless hours learning new skills, streamlining my process, and adapting my services to ensure that I can help my clients in the best possible way.

The most important lesson I’ve learned is to keep learning and keep going. Every time I’ve wanted to learn something I’ve found teachers and mentors (whether in person or online) willing to share their knowledge. The ability to learn adapt, and move to the next stage has helped me tremendously.

What I would want the world to know about our brand is that we’re not just a design and marketing company; we’re partners in our client’s success stories. I am passionate about helping businesses thrive online. Client satisfaction is at the core of my work, and the joy of watching the success of the businesses I have the privilege to work with is my driving force. When you choose to collaborate with me, rest assured that you’re gaining more than just a committed partner for your success; you’re getting a supportive cheerleader to keep you motivated.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’ve been a bit of a nomad all my life so I never really have lived in one place for too long, I live in Seattle now but the place closest to my heart is Boston.

There is so much to do in the Boston area, and the best part is everything is connected by the T, which means you can see a lot of things without ever needing a car! I would start the week by taking them for a walk along the Freedom Trail, followed by lunch at a cute Italian cafe North End, or grab a cannoli at Mike’s Pastry. No tour of Boston will be complete without visiting the bookstores and libraries. I’ve always loved visiting the Brattle Book Shop and Harvard Book Store in Cambridge, and my favorite small bookstore called Brookline Booksmith in Coolidge Corner. I would end the day with a walk around Coolidge Corner and Pizza and drinks at OTTO.

I would take them to spend a serene evening walking by the Charles River Esplanade, soaking in the views and if we’re lucky catching the gorgeous sunset. To end the week I’d take them to the South end to visit Castle Island. We’ll grab some ice cream and a fish sandwich from Sullivan’s and go on a long, serene walk along the Harbor walk, taking in views of the vast ocean and watching flights as they take off!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Of course! I would have never started a business if it weren’t for the support of my family and friends. I will start by giving a shout-out to my spouse. If It wasn’t for him, I would have given up on the business in one month! He has been a continuous support in my journey, believing in me when I did not and encouraging me to keep going.

I also credit my sister for encouraging me to tap into my creative side and learn design. I am an introvert, so it’s difficult to put myself out there. Her encouragement and belief in my work have helped me present myself with much more confidence than I normally would have.

And then there is the community of female business owners and friends that I have met via networking. I come from a non-business background so learning and growing with these women has been so empowering.
