We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea McClew and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrea, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I created my lipstick line “Luv Her Lips”, I really was just looking to find the right lip colors for my skin tone. I had no idea that this would turn into a business. I was just trying to make lipsticks i loved for myself. I started looking at companies that customize cosmetics and thought why just stop with making colors for myself, So I thought I’m going to create a vibrant lip line for women of all skin tones which became a success. I am now launching a second set of neutral colors called the ” Nude Line” in November 2022. We are very excited and hoping to go beyond online sales with talks of being in some boutiques around San Diego Spring of 2023.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I certainly wear many hats, but I never take any of it for granted. I consider being a military spouse an honor and a privilege. After supporting my husband through six deployments, I learned a lot about myself, about the military lifestyle and most importantly, how badly I wanted to help other military families in my community. I’ve been involved as a volunteer and the spokesperson for the Armed Services YMCA San Diego for 6 years. We are a nonprofit organization that helps military families in need through multiple programs that include monthly food banks, summer camps, even a horse ranch all for little or no cost. Me being a former Mrs. United States and now the current Mrs. Regency International has allowed me the opportunity to travel the country speaking on the challenges of military lifestyle and how people can help keep programs like the ASYSD growing and expanding. I’m also Mrs. Black Global. I get the opportunity speak with young African American girls across the country to chase their dreams and go for opportunities and reach goals.

A few years ago, I was a mom folding laundry sitting on the couch watch Grey’s Anatomy wondering when my life would start career wise. Had no idea that I would be an actress with 3 feature films and 30 commercials under my belt. Or a cosmetic line owner. An international beauty queen? HA….are you kidding me? Never in my wildest dreams did I believe any of it. But I am a walking billboard for anything is possible. I compare it to chasing a wave. You start with the small waves and work your way up to the big ones. You paddle farther and farther out to see how far you can go. Same with my life. I kept catching the waves. The farther I went, the bigger they got, and I’m still paddling to see what more I can achieve.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
They do not call our city Americas finest city for nothing. There is so much culture and diversity here in San Diego. I love adventure and there is so many activities to get into. When I want classical type photos, you will find me at Balboa Park. The buildings, the fountain, and stunning views, you cannot help but to take gorgeous photos. When I’m ready to relax by the beach, I’m always at Coronado Beach or La Jolla Shores. I never get tired of the waves, listening to the seals, it’s all such a vibe. I’m a huge foodie and there is so many fantastic spots, from Tacos El Gordo to amazing seafood at Brigantine. You just can’t beat the food here. If you need a little salsa dancing and good ceviche, Cafe Sevilla is my hot spot. If I want drinks and to hear a good live band, I am at the Belly up in Solana beach. So many places I can say but these are all my faves!!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I can’t thank my family and friends, and social media fans enough for all of their love and support. Living in San Diego amongst my fellow actors, military peers and friends, we all support each other and the support I have has been massive. It truly takes a village. I never could imagine experiencing the type of support I’ve gained. I’m involved in different worlds literally. Entertainment, Pageant, Real Estate worlds. At least that’s what it feels like for me. Lol. I love it because I have friends that understand the daily life in each of them. So huge thank you to everyone.
