We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Storlie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always loved design and the way a thoughtfully styled space can completely shift how it feels. For years, I was a teacher while raising my kids, but once they were a bit older, I felt like it was finally time to do something just for me. During COVID, when the world slowed down, I used that time to pour into my idea of opening my own staging company. I got certified, took online interior design classes, and started laying the foundation for what would become my staging business. I also saw a real gap in my area when talking to local Realtors. There wasn’t a strong, boutique-style staging option that focused on both design and function. So I decided to build it myself.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
If I had to sum it up in one word, it would be grit. Building my staging business wasn’t easy, but every step has been worth it. I poured myself into training and learning. During Covid when everyone else was binge watching Netflix, I was taking classes, getting certified, and constantly studying what makes a space feel elevated and irresistible to buyers. Then came the pounding the pavement part: reaching out to Realtors, introducing myself on social media, showing them what I could do, and slowly but surely building a reputation I’m proud of.

What sets me apart is that I show up every single time—for every single Realtor and homeowner. I treat each project like it’s my own listing going on the market. I want every space I touch to feel warm, intentional, and memorable.

What I’d want the world to know about me and my brand is that this isn’t just about furniture or décor. It’s about creating an emotional connection, telling the story of a home, and helping people see what’s possible.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly, I’d keep it local and soak up all the charm of Morgan Hill. We’d start by strolling through our cute downtown, exploring the new buildings, and popping into some of the fun new spots for appetizers and drinks. There’s such a great energy here with all the little places that have opened up lately.

One day would definitely be reserved for wine tasting. We’d spend the afternoon at a few of our beautiful local wineries, sipping something delicious and putting together charcuterie boards with all our favorite cheeses and snacks. It’s one of my favorite ways to slow down and connect. The grounds are always so beautiful.

We’d also head to the beach to just to sit, listen to the waves, and breathe it all in. Sometimes the best moments are the simplest ones, and for me, it’s all about creating space for connection and conversation.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without a doubt, my biggest supporters are my husband and my kids. Everything I do, I hope makes them proud, and I love showing them that with hard work, anything is possible.

They cheer me on in big ways and in the small, everyday moments that mean so much. My husband will cook dinner for me when I’m deep in a new design project, my daughter will send me texts telling me how proud she is, and my sons love to brag about me to their friends. Those little acts of encouragement remind me why I do what I do. That kind of love and support is what fuels me every single day.
