We had the good fortune of connecting with Amee Vora and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amee, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Having a nourished body, mind & soul has become an integral part of my wellness journey to become the healthy & happy person I am today!😇

Growing up, I lacked awareness on how important healthy eating is… It was a huge realization for me that what we eat can affect our health so notably. By adopting a Whole Foods Plant-Based & Healthy Lifestyle, I was not only able to lose a good amount of weight but also sustain that weight loss and increase fitness levels that are otherwise impossible in a sedentary lifestyle that we generally lead!

This newfound health and happiness gave me insights that I felt compelled to share my journey to healthy eating through my page: yummee.with.amee on social media (Instagram & Facebook)

My intention for this page share my love of nutritious & ‘yummee’ recipes and to encourage everyone around me eat healthier & adopt a mindful, holistic lifestyle.⁣ Eating this way can be easy, simple and oh so rewarding!⁣

It all started during the pandemic where I wanted to have a creative outlet to showcase that Healthy eating does not have to be boring!⁣

Food photography was a result of an accident rather than a drive to pursue that as a business. I am self-taught and learned further through so many tutorials available online and a lot of practice! I absolutely love what I do….food photography and styling allow me to continue to have a great creative outlet and if that leads to helping local businesses, then everyone wins!

I aspire to continue spreading happiness and building an empathetic and supportive community who would love to join me in my quest for health!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

Sharing some facts about me:

🌻 A full-time Software Engineer by profession, Health Enthusiast at heart & a recent Vegan convert.

🌻 Am a social introvert; do enjoy my time with close friends but like the company of my Soul the most!

🌻 Very Spiritual at heart; seek comfort in solitude to recharge & re-center.

🌻 Not super ambitious but always trying to better what I did yesterday.

In the beginning, it was just meant to be a personal page to save & share my recipes with my friends but once I realized it had a bigger demand, I wanted to make sure it reaches far & wide. To be able to hold the attention of a consumer scrolling on social media, I had to make sure the food photos I share are ‘stop-scroll’ worthy hence began the journey of self-learning food styling & photography. The digital world changes so quickly, so it’s a constant hustle to adapt, pivot and evolve in order to stay at the top of the field.

Right from finding the right replacement ingredients to ‘healthify’ a given recipe to be able to make it look appealing on the photos, it is always an uphill task but I can say I am thoroughly enjoying the whole process!!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Mt. Soledad, La Jolla Coves, Self Realization Fellowship, Old Town & Seaport village – not to be missed. Food – The Plot, Chennai Tiffins, Royal India, Trilogy Sanctuary, Veganic

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband Pritesh Vora has been my biggest cheerleader always encouraged me to first develop my passion & then keep growing in my craft! He is a food connoisseur as well as my best food critic, testing all recipes I create and then patiently waiting until I’m done photographing the food before he can get to eat it! He’s featured in a lot of recipe videos I shoot and has been receiving a lot of love for that!!

My parents, sisters & close friends have been my incredible support system throughout this journey, pushing me to strive and continue to be the best version of myself!

But, in all honesty, the biggest role has been played by my spiritual mentor & guide (Shree Premacharyaji) who has not just given me the confidence to stand up but also the wings to soar & fly no matter how tough it is! Without His inspiration, I would have not even dreamt of coming whatever little far I have come.

I feel truly blessed!!
