Meet Amanda Abruzzo | Community Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Abruzzo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
At the time, I was going through a divorce and felt pretty isolated, like I didn’t have many close friends. So I started inviting people to join me for simple things—going to the park, the beach, or doing fun activities together. Before long, people began reaching out to me, asking what I had planned for the weekend or when I was organizing the next outing. One day, the group grew so large it became more than I could manage on my own. That’s when I realized it had evolved into something bigger—a business. Now, I’m just focused on helping it grow!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Lets Go Girls started from a deeply personal place. I was going through a divorce and feeling incredibly alone. I didn’t have a strong support system at the time, so I began inviting women to get togethers like walks, wine meetups, beach days, or just fun outings. To my surprise, people started reaching out, not just to join, but to ask when the next event was. What started as a way to find connection quickly turned into a movement of women looking for the same thing- real friendship, fun, and community.
What sets Lets Go Girls apart is how organic and genuine it is. There’s no pressure, no perfectionism—just women showing up as they are, supporting each other, and having a good time. We’re not here to look perfect or be perfect. Honestly, I’m usually in gym clothes with no makeup, and that’s the vibe. This is a come-as-you-are kind of community.
But Lets Go Girls isnt just events and meetups. We’re the go-to group for recommendations. Whether you’re looking for the best brunch spot, a trusted hairstylist, nail tech, mechanic, or anything in between- Lets Go Girls is where women turn for answers they can trust. It’s like having thousands of supportive girlfriends in your back pocket.
Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. I had no formal training in building a community or brand. I’ve had to learn everything on the go like social media growth, event planning, dealing with logistics, and staying consistent. There were moments of doubt and burnout, but I kept showing up. I believed in the purpose behind Lets Go Girls even when it felt overwhelming.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that vulnerability is powerful. Sharing your story opens doors not just for yourself, but for others who need to hear it. Lets Go Girls isn’t just a group it’s a movement.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is San Diego so it depends on what area and what your vibe is! My go-to’s for food would be Oscars in PB for fish tacos, Ironside or Lionfish for oysters, Swanbar for espresso martini’s and burgers, Woody’s or Konas for breakfast and the best morning views, dinners at Cardellino’s, Rare Society and Born and Raised. On Sundays, my dad, my brother and I ride our e-bikes through San Diego starting in OB going through Hillcrest, Balboa, Downtown, Rady’s Shell- we always stop at Mona Lisa’s in Little Italy for sandwiches (Get the #18) so we usually bring any friends/family thats visiting on our rides with us. For activities, check out the Rooftop movies Downtown, I like Glen Ivy for relaxing, definitely grab a coffee and walk the boardwalk, Kate Sessions Park is where my meetups all started so go catch the sunset or fireworks there, rent a boat in the bay but most importantly I would recommend going to a Lets Go Girls event!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to all of the members of Lets Go Girls San Diego!
