We had the good fortune of connecting with Alison McLean and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alison, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
How much health can effect work productivity. Results can be obtained online, in person, group or one to one. There are many options! The best thing to do is just start!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Western Medicine told me I couldn’t heal. Several times. I’ve been told I would have osteoarthritis by the time I was 25 and to not choose a career with my hands. Not true. Didn’t happen. I have been working with my hands for two decades now…. I have been told I have disc tears in my low back that will never heal unless I get surgery. I developed a holistic program that allows me to complete my work as an entrepreneur without problems, and I know exactly what to do if I have an off day (often the missing part of most programs). I also have Lynch Syndrome, and have been told on average people with Lynch Syndrome have cancer that returns every 5-7 years. Yes, I did have colon cancer at 38 years old and a surgery to remove. No I’m not invincible, and I might get cancer again. However, I am hopeful for my future and have a wellness plan that greatly reduces my risk, and allows me to work with my fears. So I can feel the fear, but I don’t have to act from it. I don’t have to allow the fear and stress to control my life as a mom and business owner. I know exactly what to do instead, and if cancer comes back I have a plan. I have been told by my students, who have been attending my yoga classes for over a decade now, that I have lived many lives before I turned 40 years old. Can you relate to any of these health scenarios? Maybe it’s a low back or sciatic issue, maybe you have been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, or have some other health problem you can’t seem to solve. Well because I’ve experienced so much, and have attended many many trainings, I am the perfect person to help give you hope and develop your comprehensive wellness plan. Allow me to assist you in reducing your aches and pains, manage your stress, boost your energy so you can focus on the work that you are passionate about with these distractions.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Breakfast at Swamii’s and then a walk on the beach at the beach Swamii’s then catching a yoga class at Gather or Soul of Yoga Lunch at Mozy’s Dinner at Nectarine Cafe or Plum Hikes at Torrey Pines Hanging out on the Yoga Wall with Elia Nikoleav or in my clinic Massage from Dianna Shriverr or Franscesca Fiory Some quiet time in the Self Realization Gardens

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to credit and say thank you for all the mentors who’ve helped me along the way. Judith Hansen Lasater for paving the way for physical therapists to integrate physical therapy into the practice. TaVona Boggs for giving me the confidence for doing something different. All my PT and Yogi friends who support me along this path!
