Hi Alfonso, what is the most important factor behind your success?
In just a little over 2.5 years of business I find the most important factor of my success has been my response time to clients and potential clients. Whenever I receive an inquiry I send out a quote as soon as possible. Within 30 minutes or if I’m at work max 2 hours. So many time I would reach out to a business and wouldn’t hear back for days. I know everybody is busy but I feel like as a small business you have to maximize your opportunities and be first. So many times clients have responded to my quote with “thank you for your quick response” I feel like that makes a huge difference when they are narrowing down their options. Same with the questions they text me. I respond as soon as possible. Being available to the client is very important when they have questions.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

Drinks With Fonz is a mobile bartending business. We come to weddings, quinceañeras, birthdays, anniversaries, engagement, bachelorette, house warming, halloween, backyard, summer, holiday celebrations and make delicious cocktails for those in attendance. It is becoming so much popular to have a bartender at all these types of events, even at private residences. Hosts enjoy the night not having to do it themselves and guests enjoy some good cocktails.

One of the thing that’s sets us apart is the drink options we have had on the menus. I don’t have a set list of drinks we make. We will make almost anything or I’ll advise on how we can make certain drinks. Many other services have you choose from a set amount of lists. We will make custom syrups that will elevate any drink.

I don’t want to say it has been easy but it has been very fluid. Even know I still learn something new every event. How I can prep better, how I can pack better, what I need, what I don’t need, how to price, how to respond, how to market, there is so many things to do behind the scenes it is tough but for me it’s fun and gives me a sense of pride that I’m doing this.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love going to Viaje at 2nd Street in Long Beach. Amazing Mexican food, cocktails and agave spirit selection. We also love going to Gracias Madre in Newport. Great vegan restaurant that also has a great bar program.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people I want to thank. My wife Lucy for supporting me and being behind my decision to go all in and commit. My son Hanley for always hyping me up and letting me take over his closet for storage. My parents for always being very helpful and supportive with anything I need. My brother Miguel for being one of my bartenders. My sister Martha for designing menus for me when I didn’t know how to do it, her husband Lalo for helping me when I need a truck to take a bigger bar. Franky my other friend and bartender I use the most. Everyone who has worked with me I’m very grateful for your help. All clients that have hired me. All my friends that refer me to other people. Victor Bravo for not seeing me as competition and instead showing me the way to Mobile Bartending. Christy my general manager from Mama’s (restaurant bartending job) for working with me an and my schedule.
