Meet Alex Henning | Booking agent, owner of Whist Bookings

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Henning and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, why did you pursue a creative career?
I am a music passionate since I was a child and several years ago I wanted to try to enter into the music industry.

I was able and had the luck to start to work with any international labels and from there I started to get several contacts in the business which allowed me to build during the years my own brand

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Start an own booking agency (Whist bookings) was a kind of bet. I wasn’t known in the industry and was just a producer on any few underground labels, nothing to do with a possible career as booking agent of international djs.

Obviously being a newcomer in the industry means no well known djs give the possibility to manage their bookings – too risky.
So I started by managing talented acts but not recognized around.
Even if not easy I was able to set first events in Italy and also overseas, like at Space Miami and in Thailand, and that was the beginning to be known in the business.

This had brought me step by step to get in touch with more international acts having the opportunity to develop their career worldwide and my brand at the same time.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well I would suggest to take time to visit properly Milan, it is a city which has many places to visit, like the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, Cathedral Square. For shopping fans there the fashion district to spent time around 🙂

In the evening there is a funny side of Milan to have a drink in the area of Navigli, especially around Naviglio Grande.

Also near Milan there are beautiful places where to hang out like the Lake Maggiore and its beautiful isles and the Lake Como

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Back into the years I have absolutely to mention my parents, they had the patience to follow my wishes to have music instruments and gears to follow my passion. Joy Kitikonti is the one who had trusted me to propose myself as booking agent even if I was a newcomer in the industry – this gave me the right motivation.
Nowadays my wife is the one behind the scene who has always the right tips and words for decisions to be taken.
