We had the good fortune of connecting with Aimy Tu and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aimy, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my business during the process of planning my own wedding. That experience opened my eyes to the deeper meaning behind wedding design, which is it isn’t just about flowers, and a wedding isn’t just a single day. It’s a reflection of a couple’s journey, their culture, and their personality.
I realized that many weddings looked alike, even though every love story is unique. That realization became the foundation of L’amour Event Couture; it inspired me to build a brand that celebrates individuality, where every event is intentionally curated to feel deeply personal for our couples.
For me, it’s never just about decoration alone; it’s about connection, emotion, and experience of each couple. That passion continues to drive everything I create today.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When I design weddings, I don’t see them as single events, I see them as canvases where I can paint a couple’s love story, culture, and personality through décor and flowers. What sets my work apart is the intention behind every element. I always try to move away from cookie-cutter weddings and create designs that feel personal, distinctive, and true to each couple.
The road hasn’t been easy. I left a stable full-time job in late 2019 to pursue wedding planning and design. A leap of faith that felt exciting at first, but when COVID hit, and the event industry was shut down for more than a year, I truly thought that was the end of my dream. Thankfully, in 2021, as the world began to reopen, my business found new life. I was blessed with incredible clients and an outpouring of bookings that reminded me why I started in the first place.
Building something from scratch requires constant learning and sacrifices: long nights, time away from my son, and crazy working hours. There were times I doubted myself, but seeing the smiles on my clients’ faces when their dream event came to life and having the unwavering support of my husband kept me going. Every challenge has taught me to adapt, be patient, and stay true to my vision, even when the path isn’t clear.
I’m most proud of how far we’ve come, from the humble beginnings as a husband-and-wife team to producing full-scale luxury weddings and events with a team of talented staff members.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that L’amour isn’t just about beautiful weddings, it’s about meaningful stories told through our design. Every petal and every decoration piece is chosen with love and intention.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Places to visit:
– San Juan Capistrano
– Disneyland (my favorite place to be)
– Lido Marina New Port Beach
– Orange County Museum of Art
– Griffith Observation
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Behind every design I create, there’s my husband, who is the technical person that turns my visions into reality. He never says no to my wild ideas and works tirelessly to bring each detail to life. Besides that, I am grateful for our passionate and talented team, who work tirelessly to transform sketches into beautiful reality for our clients.
