We had the good fortune of connecting with Aimee Granton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aimee, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
One of the most important lessons that my career has taught me is the art of adaptability. Being a hairdresser is a creative and rewarding career, where every day we have clients in our chair trusting us with not only their hair, but their self-confidence. To be adaptable to many different situations, from a drastic color or haircut change to a shoulder to cry on or a understanding ear allowing you to vent.
I’ve heard from so many clients, indicating that while they appreciated the service of their previous stylist,
they didn’t feel a connection, which to me is incomprehensible. I love my job BECAUSE of the connection…as a matter of fact,
if there is no connection, I have not done my job properly. It is my passion to adapt to the needs of every individual in my chair and provide them the exact service to fulfill that need. I want them to feel confident, safe, and heard.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I want the world to know how much I love what i do. I am so blessed to go to work behind the chair every day and meet some of the most extraordinary people. Being a single mom and working full time has its challenges, but I have never given up on my dream. I am constantly learning and growing.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a San Diego native, and there are so many great places to see! First, I would start out with Breakfast at World Famous in PB for their egg’s benedict, followed by a bike ride on the Boardwalk. Next stop would be jakes in Del Mar for happy hour by the water. Then head to Dog beach in Del Mar to take the dog for a playdate at sunset. Shopping In Downtown Encinitas is a must, one of my favorites is Soulscape, a cocious living gift and book store. They have the most awesome stuff! I highly Recommend. Next stop is my favorite beach Swamis, then the Self Realization Center meditation garden, it is i absolutely beautiful! Finally Let’s end the night at Encinitas Ale House for a beer and a Burger. Best in town!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without the support of my family, I would not have had the love and support to pursue such a creative career. I feel so very thankful for them
