We had the good fortune of connecting with Ai Hashimoto and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ai, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I had been stay home mom raising three kids for 13 years. I enjoyed being stay home mom very much and I wanted to know how much I can do using my homemaker carrier and start my own business. I believe homemaker is wonderful carrier. Raising children needs long term commitment, long term thinking, hard working, leadership which all requires for entrepreneurship.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We consult people to find better financial strategies including tax strategies, college funding strategies, retirement planning, etc. We also educate people through seminars so that they can help others as well as help themselves. we are doing this most of the time by Zoom so that we can reach all over the United States. We are currently developing a nationwide Japanese financial professional team so that we can provide financial information in our language. Not only Japanese but also many people tend to feel comfortable learning about money in their own language so that they can reduce misunderstandings.
I am receiving very positive feedback and appreciation from Janapnese people in many states that they start to think about their money more seriously and take care of their money carefully than before.
Of course it wasn’t easy especially since it hard to build trust through zoom but I took the challenges as an honor which made me very excited.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Del Mar dog beach Jake’s Del Mar
I love beach!!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I would like to thank my children who have been supporting my new challenge. I’d been a stay-at-home mom for more than ten years, preparing three meals, cleaning the house daily, and taking care of my children very well.
Three years ago I started my new business and I had to give up most of the things I used to be doing. I started to prepare as simple as possible meals for my children and they had to fend for themselves. It was not a bad thing, but it must have been confusing for my children. I am truly grateful that they adapted well enough to it.
I also want to thank Michiho Onozuka who believed in me and became my first business partner. We launched our business three years ago using Zoom. We developed our business through this new tool Zoom. There were many challenges as a pioneer but it was all worth it.
