Meet Adeleh Yarmohammadi | Ophthalmologist & Glaucoma Fellow

We had the good fortune of connecting with Adeleh Yarmohammadi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adeleh, what do you attribute your success to?
3 Ps: Passion, Positive attitude and Perseverance. When I moved to the States as a foreign medical graduate, I was told that getting into ophthalmology residency is almost impossible (highly competitive for American graduates as well).
Despite the discouragement, I kept my focus on my true passion, stayed positive, and tried my best to do whatever it takes to reach my dream of becoming an ophthalmologist in the United States.
Fast forward 6 years, I finished my residency in July 2021, and now in my sub-specialty training as a glaucoma fellow, and very grateful for all the opportunities I have had.
What should our readers know about you?
Currently a trainee, glaucoma fellowship (last year of medical training as an eye surgeon)
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Short walk by the beautiful La Jolla beach followed by exploring amazing food scene in San Diego and a walk in the pretty Balboa Park
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Major shoutout to my mentor Dr. Weinreb, chairman of the ophthalmology department at UC San Diego
