We had the good fortune of connecting with Adele Hendricks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adele, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
As an Impressionist painter, simple beauty has always been intriguing and exciting for me: whether it’s the swing of a toddler’s dress as she chases bubbles, the posture and color of wave-drenched rocks on the beach, or the ennui expressed in an old farmer’s hands. These captivating moments in time are so beautiful to me I wanted to capture that beauty to remember it and share it. Only paint and brush gets me close enough to what I not only see but also feel.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am and always will be a student of art, I am a consummate observer and witness to the beauty of our world. I’ve learned that all is beautiful in someone’s eyes — one should not judge or be critical. What keeps me busy as an artist is communicating that experience on canvas. My painting then not only reminds me of that beauty, that wonderful moment, but it allows me to share and explain my intrigue with everyone.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d begin at my house. I’d cook them a simple breakfast of fresh eggs from our backyard hens topped with a spicy sauce made from our homegrown peppers and my husband’s homemade bread. We’d swim in the pool or take a hike on the beach. If it’s warm enough we’d boogie board and then have lunch at Waverly in Cardiff (my favorite lately). Then back to the house for some dinner, great wine and conversation with some friends and my husband (the most interesting man I’ve ever known). Later a jacuzzi and some stargazing! The week would go on with this simple laid back schedule because we all need to slow down and smell the roses!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
