How do you think about work-life balance?

By far the most common conversation we have with the folks we interview is about work-life balance. Starting a business or pursuing a creative career makes finding work life balance really tough because there is no clear start and end to one’s work day. My work-life balance has not changed over time. I started working when I was sixteen years old in the entertainment industry. I was a radio announcer with a part-time job as a dubber and I usually ended up working until the wee hours of the morning. I became a workaholic – just to realize when I hit maturity that I missed half of my teenage years. Why? Because, I got burned out, especially because the working environment was not what we thought it would be. Read more>>

When starting my balloon business I had a full time job aside that I will do Monday-Friday and yet still get home pickup my one year son at that time, make dinner (when I could) and answer all inquiries and messages from clients or future clients until late every night. It was full force into putting all this energy to this new business with along side being a first time mother. Obviously weekends would be from juggling 2-11 events.
