We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Ariaudo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
Growing up in the Midwest, I was fortunate enough to have a close relationship with my mother and younger sister. As the oldest, I took on a role of care-taker and protector of my family and friends.

I always had a desire to help people and this was further strengthened by my love of learning and strive to be the best I could be. I began working at the local hospital when I was 15, registering emergency room patients, answers phones and filing. I knew I wanted a career in which I could help others.

This combination of personal experiences and interests eventually led me to work with cancer patients and now teach mindfulness as a way to help others stress less, live more and be the healthiest and happiest they can be.

Through my work, I have seen firsthand the profound impact that mindfulness can have on individuals, especially those facing difficult challenges, including health concerns. I am passionate about sharing this powerful tool with others and empowering them to take back control of their health and happiness.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Looking back, my career path had brought me to exactly where I need to be. There were ups and downs along the way of course, but the bumps in the road helped to redirect me to a more impactful path. I always had the desire to help people and felt like I would create something new, I just wasn’t sure what that meant.

I have finally found my true purpose: Helping empower others to take back control of their lives and health through simple and accessible tools. I like to keep it simple, because people won’t do long or complicated.

What sets me apart from others in my field is that I have the clinical as well as holistic education and experience. I’ve also used the tools I teach in my own health and healing journey. I keep it easy, simple and empower my clients to choose what works for them.

What I’ve learned along the way is, challenges arise, but life doesn’t have to be hard. Shifting to see the opportunity in a situation isn’t always easy; however, it can be life changing.

I am really passionate and love what I do. Helping people find the opportunities and become the best version of themselves is so inspiring. This work is so transformative and can positively impact all aspects of life, including health and energy.

Anyone can be empowered, the key is to be ready to make the shifts.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
San Diego is such a great city. Whether you want good food, drinks or outdoor activities, there are plenty of options.

I love being outdoors, so I take everyone to Torrey Pines to hike, then hit the beach to relax, read or go for a run. I see dolphins often, so it’s fun to look and try to find them. I love Balboa Park for so many reasons too. It’s great people watching, there are a variety of museums and I love walking across the bridge and enjoying fresh air.

If you’re near 5th Ave, try to Brazil bowl at Barrio Star. It’s amazing!

Depending on the season, I love taking friends to Padres games. The stadium is great to walk around and so accessible to a variety of restaurants or cafes.

For North County I enjoy Tamarindo for margaritas and tacos, as well as the beautiful sunsets. If you head east, my friend owns The Shop: Pizza + Cocktails in Rancho Bernardo. The Chop Salad and Cucumber martini are my faves!

Head up the coast for a variety of cafes. They are all good so it’s hard to pick just one! I most frequent Ironsmith Coffee Roasters for a Vanilla latte and almond croissant.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
As funny as it may sound, two of my yoga instructors are people who greatly impacted my life. Amy Caldwell is the owner of Yoga One in San Diego. It was during her yoga class that I first experienced the bliss state I had heard so much about. Her calming demeanor, gentle flow style and overall presence was so pleasant, I wanted more. I signed up for her teacher training course immediately. It was in the Yoga One teacher training where I met Diana Beardsley.

It was during Diana’s portion of the teaching that I received permission I didn’t even know I needed. At 27, it was the first time in my life I had received permission to make choices for my body, to listen to it and make modifications based on what I needed at that moment.

For some reason, it was eye opening for me. I had the power to choose. Choose if a pose was supportive or if modifications were needed. Choose if I needed to rest or if I wanted to try something else entirely. This choice changed my life.

I realized I could start implementing boundaries, I could say no and I could be more in tune with my body. I had been experiencing some health issues for a while and this new found choice and awareness were helping me to better acknowledge and track my symptoms as well as communicate more effectively with my healthcare team. Before long, we were able to address the root cause of the issues instead of band-aiding the symptoms.

The power of choice changed my life and I believe Amy and Diana were the beginning of this change.
