We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My husband and I wanted to create a small B&B like the ones we had stayed at all over the world. We were both in the marketing business and had done a lot of marketing for hotels, and we knew about running a business. So we put all those things together and focused our efforts on creating a B&B business!

What should our readers know about your business?
My husband and I have owned the Triangle Inn Palm Springs – a small Bed and Breakfast that we market to gay men. It’s located in Palm Springs, CA. We’ve operated it since January of 2000. We like to think we offer people a safe space to be themselves. A place where they can meet other gay men, and where they can return year after year to rekindle the friendships they have discovered here. We offer what we call Southern (California) Hospitality. We live on property and do our very best to make sure your visit to the Triangle Inn Palm Springs will be better than you ever imagined, different from the traditional hotel experience, and, most of all, special – from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave to go back home.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Palm Springs has so much to do!!! We love to go hiking and exploring in the nearby mountains. There are the Indian Canyons, Thousand Palms Oasis, Joshua Tree National Park, Mecca Hills, the Salton Sea, and Mount San Jacinto – all of which offer a unique experience outdoors. We also enjoy dining out at all our locally-owned and operated restaurants. One fo the really great things about Palm Springs is that so many of the businesses are locally owned and operated, so they are completely unique. The local ownership is reflected in the unique offerings, the pride of ownership and the amazing offerings.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I was fortunate to have a great business mentor. I went to work for Steve Eigel in 1980 and worked for him in one capacity or another until 2001. He taught me about running a business. I could not have opened my own business had it not been for all the things I learned from him.
