Meet Klair Sorosky | Tattoo Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Klair Sorosky and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Klair, how do you define success?
I would define success as being happy. Being able to provide for myself and the people that I love by doing the thing that I love. Which is creating art.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a tattoo artist, based in Ventura California. It was not easy getting into this profession. Ive always been an artist and my dad was a painter. He always encouraged me in my drawing. I realized tattooing was my dream when I was going to art school at San Francisco Art Institute. Then after years of looking, I apprenticed in LA, commuting (from Carpinteria) 3 hours a day to learn the art of tattooing.
Im proud of myself for persevering and working hard when I wanted nothing more than to quit. I reminded that nothing worth having comes easy. I sacrificed a lot and worked hard to get where I am and I wouldn’t have done it any other way.
Tattooing is hard work which is part of the reason it is so rewarding, and what pushes me to work harder to become an artist I’m proud of. Im looking forward to continuously working my ass off and creating as much art as I can. Im excited to continue learning about tattooing, meeting new artists, building relationships, traveling and guest spotting at shops around the world. My dream is to earn enough experience and knowledge to open up my own shop one day. I am so thankful and blessed to be a part of this industry. It truly is a dream come true.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Since I dont work and live in the same town, we would hop around a little. A day would be waking up and heading to Ventura California grabbing a cup of coffee at our local spot called Prospect, then head on over to he tattoo shop, Black Penny. Give them a tattoo of course. Then for lunch take them to Carpinteria California to Taqueria Rincon Alteno for some incredible crispy chicken tacos. Then to the local beach for a little fun n the sun. And to finish the day Id cook them a home cooked meal, get a bottle of wine and share a meal in my backyard. I think the best things in like are in the ordinary, just some quality time together catching up.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Id like to thank my family and friends For supporting me and encouraging me in the chaos of becoming a tattoo artist. I also appreciate all the tattoo artists I’ve met along the way for teaching me what they know and giving me the opportunity to work with them and grow as an artist.
