We had the good fortune of connecting with Casey Turner Music and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Casey, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
It pursued me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Hmm. Let’s start here….

Living in Florida and graduating from engineering at Florida Institute of Technology I miraculously landed my 1st non musical gig at NASAs Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral. 5 years of specializing in Main Propulsion Systems was a pinnacle to my engineering career but there was still a fire burning for something more; and music was it.

I moved out to California where I worked for alternative energy company Xcellsis and helped develop the very 1st Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles🔥. Living in CA making trips to Hawaii much easier to visit family who lived on Maui. The stays on island eventually became longer and longer and the island vibes set in. Bought my 1st ukulele and began jamming those good vibes. Recorded my 1st album ” No Stress Express” w that Lanikai soprano use I picked up on Kauai. In 2012 I sent the album out to terrestrial FM radio stations and Australian radio started playing it. It grew from 1 station to about 80 Australian stations, which was pretty cool because back then people were still listening in ( Spotify hadn’t fully taken hold yet). In the US, CRUZ fm in Santa Barbara began playing it and in Hawaii Q103FM on Maui and Maui FM began jamming the singles ” More than Gold” and ” Never Want to Go Home”. Being Hawaian islands were a bit closer than Australia I set off on a series of Hawaiian Island Tours. Meeting the right people in order for that to fall in place was key and Hawaii had the good vibes.. I jammed so many cool spots. From Mai Tai Bar Honolulu,Kona Brewing Co,. to Trees Kauai, and even local spot Creekside on the east side Kailua. Epic Hawaiian island tours surf all day and jamming shows at night. Vibes were high!
It wasn’t until 2016 I had decided to tour Australia. And an epic idea it was! There’s nothing quite like your first time someplace and that definitely holds true for my 1st Australian tour. A year prior I was living in Bali for 6 months and played a place on the cliff out in Uluwatu called The Single Fin, where I met a few super good blokes Joshy and
Rhett, who said ” mate you need to come down under and play these tunes”. A year later I landed in beautiful tropical Airle Beach and was jamming a 15 date tour from the Whitsunday Islands all the way 1200 miles down the coast with an epic finish playing at The Byron Bay Surf Festival. ( G-love and Paula Fuga also played that year)
I ended up doing that same run 4 years in a row. Best part about it was making so many friends and meeting all the good people. Also 2016 was the year an Astronaut debuted my song “Waves on the Ocean ” aboard the International Space Station. Pretty cool thing to have happen. Rebelutions media source “Hill Kid”shouted that out and covered it along w some other news outlets in California and Florida.
I’ve been touring non-stop since, Following the Sun for the most part, California in the USA summers, FL in the Fall, Hawaii, Indonesia and Australia
during our winters…then back around to start again. A few highlight shows were Playing a concert at Kelly Slater Wave Co. ( Surf Ranch) opening for Tomorrow’s Bad Seeds. And getting to surf that wave.. ( someone canceled their slot last minute and I happened to be in the right place at the right time! Chee hooo.
Also Jamming The Catalina Wine Mixer was a super fun one. Good vibes the whole way. And just when you thought things couldnt get any better.. 2020 happened

2020 Stuck in Indonesia on Bali Island for 1 and a half years was a dream come true lol. I laid low and watched most people frantically leave the island,
Waited and then the airport closed, leaving whatever stragglers behind Locked on the island for the wave feast of empty breaks!. It was something like rubbing a lamp, genie comes out granting 3 wishes. Empty waves, cold beer, and live jamming the Local bar on the beach for Bintang and nasi goreng. Unreal experience.
Blessed in Indonesia.

Since getting back from stranded in paradise, I’ve been getting back on my feet again, playing shows in Southern California and this Fall geared up to tour Florida for November and December 2022. Really looking forward to it.
And hoping 2023 to be litty as well.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The word city isn’t one I usually resonate with, but it does have its moments. Put me on a small island w good people and I’ll never want to leave. If you visit me on Lembongan Island then you already know we will be surfing out front at Shippys, swillin beers in the sun at Mega Cottage Sunset chilling at Agus Shipwreck bar and vibin to the reggae at Fin Island Bar. I tend to like to keep it simple. Take an island tour on the scooter over to Tawae Beach and across the yellow Bridge to Seabreeze bar and Blue Lagoon. If you want to get a better feel. Check out my YouTube video of my single ” Johnny Losmen”.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Theres just too many people to shout out! The obvious is Family and friends, But if I can list just a few, I’d like to start with thanking NASA Astronaut Shane Kimbrough and the good people at Houston Space Center for debuting my song aboard the International Space Station making my track ” Waves on the Ocean” the 1st reggae song debuted in space! ( 2016) Pretty cool! 😎Video on YouTube.
