Meet Sandra Suarez | Graphic Designer and Signage and Vehicle Wrap Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sandra Suarez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sandra, what do you attribute your success to?
My name is Sandra Suarez, I started my career 16 years ago. I studied graphic design at the University of Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico. I arrived in the United States in 2005 and in March 2006, together with my husband, We decided to open SandL to offer graphic design and stationary printing services to the Hispanic Community in North County. We first started the business out of a room in my husband’s condominium. As the business grew, we decided it was time to branch out and expand our vision. We rented a facility in the heart of vista, There was an opportunity to help Latino business to grow by providing marketing tools and branding strategies . We decided to purchased our printing equipment for all kind of marketing materials, The concept of a one stop shop was the center of our core business. This was my inspiration. I saw that there was a demand for the graphic design concept to make a complete circle. The logo concept now became a physical work of art on business cards, flyers, car wraps and signage. One of my biggest challenges occurred when the city of Vista decided to renovate the down town asking us to move locations. We had been in the location for 11 years, we had already a steady customer based and a lot of our business came from walk ins. The challenge resulted in the biggest opportunity for me and my business, I had no choice but to leave my comfort zone and scale the business to serve the whole market. I had to seek help to be able to re structure the business to meet our new demands. We started to focus more on Vehicle Wrapping and outdoor signage. These opened a huge door to work with major corporations like, Green Flash, Enterprise, Camp Pendleton among others.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The concept of SandL Signs and Wraps arose as a one stop shop for design and printing services . Create an agency where our clients are helped in various ways to meet their marketing and printing needs.

SandL expanded its printing and graphic design services to specialize in the indoor/outdoor signage and vehicle wrap industry. What differentiates us from other companies is our customer service focus. For us it is very important to provide a total experience. where we not only sell a product or a service but help our customers to meet their marketing objectives. We offer the best quality products at reasonable prices (We work with our customers to stay within budget).

Getting here has not been easy at all, Mastering English as an adult , learning to run a business, being a mother of 2 little ones, having to obtain a contractor’s license and dealing with the complexity of life it self, it is very hard. All these seemed impossible to achieve. But today I can proudly say that I am one of the few Latina women in my area with a sign contractor’s license and a well established business.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

As we all know, starting a business is not easy. First I thank God who has always given me strength. To my beloved husband Luis and my children Daniel and Camila who are my strength, always supporting me and having faith in me, pushing me not to give up on my dream, always being there in the most difficult moments and encouraging me in the ups and downs. I also thank my parents, who have always supported me, especially my father who has always been by my side. Finally, I also want to thank my work team, Lizeth, Brenda, Tommy and Brodi, you make it possible for us to achieve our goals every day… Thank you!
